Paris Baguette Cafe (Tampines Mall)

It is called Paris Baguette Cafe, but it is actually from Korea, South Korea to be exact. It was known as Paris Croissant when it was first established in 1986. Paris Baguette has since then opened stores in China, US, Singapore and Vietnam and they are scheduled to enter Middle East, Southeast Asia and South American regions. Paris Baguette has won "Korea First Brand Awards" for 7 consecutive years and they are ready to rock the world stage.       Paris Baguette Cafe offers bread and pastries, cakes and desserts, sandwiches and beverages. You can view the tastefully-designed website menu   here .        This is their Original Royal Pudding. It tastes like milk curd, it is very smooth and literally melts in the mouth. Coupled with caramel sauce at the bottom, I have no doubt this is definitely the best milk pudding I have tasted so far. Other variations include Royal Pudding Strawberry, Royal Pudding Mango and Royal Pudding Cappucino.   ...

Sushi Express (CityLink Mall)

At $1.50 per plate, Sushi Express's affordability and dedication to freshness and quality of food makes Sushi Express my first choice whenever I get a sushi craving. After a delicious introduction to Sushi Express by Stella at the   313@Somerset   outlet, I am here to try out the CityLink Mall outlet.       Wet tissue to wipe your hands and pre-packed wasabi.   There is free-flow of green tea in the form of sachets, but I prefer   Genki Sushi 's green tea powder because the taste is more authentic.     Tuna Sashimi     Salmon Sashimi   Sashimi are fresh and plump.     Boiled Shrimp     Boiled Squid      Sliced Unagi     Mocked Abalone     Unagi   I really enjoyed the Mocked Abalone. I would never have guessed that it is not real abalone because it tastes as good as the real abalone.     Hana Maki     Salmon Floss Roll   Stella introduced me to ...

Chabuton (Tampines One): Chabuton Tonkotsu Ramen

Chabuton originated from Japan, helmed by the famous Chef Yasuji Morizumi who is named "King of Ramen" after he won in TV Champion and whose Hong Kong restaurant "MINT" is the first ramen restaurant to be awarded a Michelin star for two consecutive years. After successful expansion to Thailand and LA, Chabuton opened it's Singapore flagship outlet at 313@Somserset.     Chabuton offers  Tonkotsu,  Tonkotsu Sio,  Tonkotsu Miso Ramen and  Shoyu Ramen.       The signature Chabuton Tonkotsu Ramen features pork bone broth topped with chashu, bamboo shoot and Japanese leek. Thick and straight noodles are cooked al debte but the chashu is a little dry.    I have to say, I am a little disappointed. With such outstanding achievements, I expected a lot more from Chef  Yasuji Morizumi, but the signature Chabuton Tonkotsu Ramen is average at best and my favourite tonkotsu ramen remains   Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King .    Chef ...

Imperial Treasure Windows of Hong Kong (TripleOne Somerset)

TripleOne Somerset is just a short distance away from 313@Somserset, one of the most popular shopping destination in the Orchard Road area. The quiet shopping mall houses an interesting mix of restaurants, one of which is Imperial Treasure Windows of Hong Kong.          To ensure that customers have a truly authentic Hong Kong cafe experience, the restaurant has adopted the Hong Kong cafe way of operation. You have to order and make payment before stepping into the restaurant, t he menu changes according to different times of the day. You will be given a timer and food is self-collected at collection point when the timer buzzes.     The cutlery are disposable and pre-packed to ensure hygiene. I personally feel that this makes the restaurant feel a little cheapskate, but this is the standard practice in Hong Kong cafes.     Beef Brisket Noodle 柱候牛腩面 combines clear broth with tender chunks of beef  brisket, a popular noodle dish in Hong Ko...

Marche Movenpick (Suntec City) - Breakfast at 7.30am in Suntec City

There are not many breakfast choices at 7.30am in Suntec City and having grown tired of the old favourites such as   Ya Kun Kaya Toast   and   Toast Box , I decided to try something new and had breakfast at Marche instead.           The sight and smell of freshly-baked pastries and breads is enough to set my stomach to work.         I ordered Marche Ultimate Breakfast and it comes with two slices of freshly-baked bread. The bacon is unlike any others I have had, it is slightly chewy and not at all leathery. The chicken sausage and sautéed mushrooms are average, but the scrambled eggs taste heavenly on toast.   There is nothing exceptionally good about Marche Ultimate Breakfast, it is just your average English breakfast. Just another option for breakfast in Suntec City at 7.30am.   Marché Mövenpick Suntec City Address: 3 Temasek Boulevard, Suntec City Mall #01-612/614 Telephone:  63373134 Opening Hours: Daily 11am...

Toast Box (Suntec City) - Egg Tarts in 4 Flavours

Toast Box has recently taken over what used to be BreadTalk at the space opposite Food Republic food court in Suntec City. Besides offering Toast Box favourites such as Curry Chicken and Laksa, Toast Box has reinvented the traditional egg tart by incorporating 4 different flavours.          This is the Original Egg Tart. The crust is buttery and crumbly, the egg custard filling is delightfully soft and strikes the perfect balance between eggs and butter.       Mochi Egg Tart has a coffee-jelly filling that is more sweet than bitter with just the slightest hint of coffee. It is perfect for non-coffee drinkers like me.     Stuffed with sweet coconut filling and sprinkled with dried coconut flakes, Coconut Egg Tart does not only taste good, it looks good too.     Golden Lava Egg Tart is my favourite of the three flavours. The saltiness and graininess of the custard filling provides an interesting contrast to the buttery and sweetn...
