Ichiban Boshi (Suntec City) - Another "Memorable" Dining Experience

I have to say, Ichiban Boshi (Suntec City) never fails to make my dining experience an "memorable" one. I thought it can't get any worse than my horrifying first dining experience at  Ichiban Boshi (Suntec City) , especially when I have taken Stella's suggestion of ordering their bento sets which is supposed to be their strong suit.       I was promptly seated at a counter seat and my order was promptly taken. Then, I waited and waited ... waited and waited till I could not stand it any longer. How long could a plate of cold soba (which is probably already cooked beforehand and just waiting to be served) and a bowl of chicken katsudon? I finally managed to lock eyes with a female staff who smiled at me ... and she went about doing her own things. I finally got hold of another female staff who went to help me check and my meal miraculously appeared in the next one minute.        I ordered Chasoba & Katsu Don Gozen which consists ...

The Burger Bar

I have read many fabulous reviews about the delicious and huge burgers served at Fatboy's The Burger Bar which is not surprising when Fatboy's The Burger Bar has been nominated by numerous websites and food blogs as one of the best burgers in Singapore but Upper Thomson is really out of the way for me, so I have not had the chance to try the amazing burgers.    Fatboy's The Burger Bar has recently opened a franchise at Marina Square called The Burger Bar. It is a down-sized version of the original restaurant, but at least it beats travelling an hour for a burger.         Make your order on the touch-screen computers ...     and make payment at the cashier here.     You will be given a timer, which will beep when it's time to collect your food from the cashier.       In an effort to promote healthy eating, all foods does not come with sauces. You can get sauces and salt from the condiments corner.     I ordered Bu...

Yomenya Goemon (CityLink Mall)

If you have ever made your way from City Hall MRT to Suntec City Mall, you probably have noticed this Japanese restaurant called Yomenya Goemon, which is situated in a corner next to Guardian. There are three outlets in Singapore, strategically located at the East, West and Central region of Singapore.   Yomenya Goemon is hugely popular in Japan since 1976 with 2500 stores in Japan and it has become the second largest food and beverage player in Japan.   I shall discover the joy of "Slurping Spaghetti with Chopsticks", as Yomenya Goemen puts it.     There are many styles of spaghetti available in Japanese Taste and Western Style.       Every set comes with soup and salad. Soup is a clear tofu soup which is practically tasteless. Salad is radish salad which is bland but refreshing.     Fresh Nori, Shrimp & Clam is from the Japanese Taste menu. Nori is the Japanese word for seaweed and it tastes amazing when cooked with spaghetti. Nori, tog...

Wilder - Halal Cafe Serves Delicious Food

Mariem and I stumbled upon this tiny halal restaurant after two hours of walking around Bugis and Bendemeer area looking for J's (closed for dinner preparation) and Le Bistro Parisien (it has closed down).      Wilder has taken over the space previously occupied by De'Pop Culture Cafe, serving up cafe foods with their unique interpretation.       The cafe is decked out in industrial design, giving the place a spacious yet homely feel.       Wilder has a small menu of 6 starters, 4 salads and 7 mains plus one surprise main. I would definitely have chosen the "Surprise!" item if I had seen it because I loved being surprised by something the chef creates with what he/she has on hand. I am definitely going to order the "Surprise!" the next time I am here.       Desserts include cakes and scones. Drinks include the usual coffee drinks such as cappuccino and latte, plus a few mojitos.       I am sorry to say this but t...

Coasta Coffee (Raffles City Shopping Centre)

Stella and I made plans to have lunch together, but my dear Stella was half an hour late which left me only 30 minutes to have a quick lunch and make it back to office. We abandoned our plans and headed to Costa Coffee, which was just beside the taxi stand.     Coasta Coffee has been around for more than 40 years, started by two UK brothers, Sergio and Bruno Costa.      Hot Chocolate tastes very similar to The Coffee and Tea Leave's Double Hot Chocolate, but it still loses to   Max Brenner's Italian Thick Hot Chocolate .     Chocolate Mint Cooler is nice with a strong minty taste but it is a little too sweet for my taste.     Smoked Chicken Croissant Sandwich is ideal for a light meal. Oven-warmed croissant is stuffed with pieces of smoked chicken and fresh vegetables.     Chicken Ham Egg Pits Pocket is nicely oven-toasted.     4 Tier Carrot Cake is a beauty to look at and tastes so good. The carrot cake itself is del...

Keng Eng Kee - We Are Here Again!

I have been always been a huge fan of anything made with salted egg and the addiction was brought to a whole new level when I had Salted Egg Crab the last time we were at Keng Eng Kee. I recently read a review that Keng Eng Kee serves one of the best salted egg crab in Singapore, so here we are again.     We are here mainly for this - Salted Egg (Fried) Crab 咸蛋(炸)螃蟹. There is more sauce this time round, but I definitely would not mind even more sauce. Creamy, salty and so damn delicious. The crab itself is very fresh and the meat is firm. I am curious how the steamed version would taste like.      Chilli Crab 辣椒螃蟹 is an iconic Singapore dish. The sweet and spicy sauce packs a punch although I find it a little too spicy but who am I to judge when I can't really take spicy food? We wiped the plate clean with Mantou 馒头. Would you say this is the best chilli crab in Singapore?     Mantou 馒头 are not the bite-sized ones you get at most other restaurants. The...
