Da Paolo Gastronomia's Salted Egg Croissant - My Personal Favourite So Far

The salted egg croissant war has been going on for some time now, even my doctor took notice of it and proclaimed Da Paolo Gastronomia's Salted Egg Croissant to be the best in Singapore, although the winner goes to   Antoinette's Salted Yolk Lava Croissant   in the  The Straits Times  article.     I happened to be in Paragon so I thought I would drop by to taste Da Paolo Gastronomia's Salted Egg Croissant.           As compared to   Antoinnette's Salted Yolk Lava Croissant   where the amount of filling is pathetic and tastes kind of funny, Gastonomia Da Paolo's Salted Egg Croissant is loaded with the sweet-salty goodness to the very ends of the croissant. The filling still does not have the flowy consistency of lava, but the sweetness and saltiness is well-balanced and the salted egg yolk flavor is very intense. I would have liked the croissant itself to be a little bit more buttery (Antoinette's croissant is perfect)...

Tomi Sushi

Tomi Sushi was founded in Niigata in 1954 and has since opened 14 outlets in Japan.    Singapore is Tomi Sushi's first overseas expansion with a total of 4 outlets at Millenia Walk, Novena Square (Velocity), Katong V and Cuppage Terrace.   Tomi Sushi's dedication to giving Singaporeans the best dining experience can be seen in the insistence of using 100% Niigata Koshihkari (the best brand of rice in Japan), salt from "the Sea of Japan" and traditionally brewed soy sauce, all of which are specially flown in from Japan.            I wanted to try their sushi, so I ordered the   Nigiri Sakura   set which comes with tori karrage, chawanmushi, fresh fruits, seasonal salad, miso soup and handmade sushi. The sushi includes (from left to right) Salmon (Sake), Yellowtail (Hamachi), Tuna (Maguro), Squid (Ika), Flounder (Hirami), Shrimp (Ebi), Salmon Roe (Maguro) and Egg (Tamago). The sushi are freshly-made upon order, you can feel the warmth...

Antoinette's Salted Yolk Lava Croissant - Supposedly Best Salted Egg Croissant in Singapore

DanielFoodDiary ( The Best Salted Egg Croissant In Singapore Is … Yes, We Tried All 5 Of Them ),  one of Singapore's most prestigious food blogger, ranks this as the best salted egg croissant in Singapore. That's right, we are talking about Antoinette's Salted Yolk Lava Croissant.    Let's go and find out if  Antoinette's Salted Yolk Lava Croissant is really as good as everyone makes it out to be.              Antoinette's   Salted Yolk Lava Croissant   is supposed to be the best salted egg croissant in Singapore, but I have to say I am not impressed. The croissants are super crispy having been heated up in an oven before being served, but it lacks the buttery taste of a good croissant. The salted egg filling is really thick, it does not really have the lava consistency of a good salted egg filling. The grainy texture of salted egg is there but the contrast between the savory and sweet is kind of muffled.   ...

Bread Talk (Toast Box)'s Golden Lava Croissant - Mini Sized Delights

Taste is very subjective and everyone have their own opinion. Ladyironchef and Misstamchiak feels that Antoinette's salted egg croissant is the best in Singapore while The Straits Times recently publish an article that says Da Paolo Gastronomia is the best.    Adding to the list of places you can get your salted egg croissant fix is Bread Talk (Toast Box) with their mini-sized salted egg croissants. Bread Talk (Toast Box)'s Golden Lava Croissant will be available from 15 March 2016.              The grainy salted egg filling flows as you bite into the croissants. The filling more sweet than salty which is fine but the croissant itself is not buttery and a little tough.  This may not be the best salted egg croissant, but at $8 for 10, these bite-sized croissants are affordable and easily available. They taste the best fresh from the oven, but if you are not able to get them then, you can heat them up for 1 minute in a toaster oven or 2-3 ...

Besides being a world-class hospital and medical centre, the National University Hospital also features many food options such as a big Kopitiam at the ground floor of the inpatient wards. The opening of the Kent Ridge Station on the Circle Line exposed the basement of the National University Hospital Medical Centre where many tantalizing treats await.   Today I would like to introduce you to Penang Street, a restaurant that specialises in Penang cuisine.   The restaurant is decorated in traditional Peranakan tiles.
