Chinese New Year Dinner 2018 at NUSS Suntec City Guild House

It’s time for our company’s annual Chinese New Year dinner and the boss has decided to have it at NUSS Suntec City Guild House this year.   My colleagues and I have dined at NUSS Suntec City Guild House’s The Bistro and we are impressed with the high quality of food served, so we have high expectations of this Chinese New Year meal.  Chinese New Year set menu can be enjoyed at both The Bistro and function rooms. A minimum of 2 tables of 10 people is required to book the function room, corkage at $10 per bottle.  This year, there are two Chinese New Year Set Menus to choose from, the $698 Prosperity Set and $798 Auspicious Set.  The boss chose the $698 Prosperity Set. Let me show you the courses in the Prosperity Set and my opinions on each dish.  I like that the   Prosperity Salmon & Sliced Abalone Yu Sheng   is not as sweet as some others that I have eaten. The portion is not too big either, we managed to finish the whole thing.  I fee...

If you are sick of the usual Chinese, Western and Japanese meals, shake things up by having a Mexican meal at MexOut.  MexOut offers Mexican meals that emphasizes healthiness while still maintaining the distinctiveness of Mexican food.   The   MexOut   outlet at Millenia Walk sports wooden tables and metal stools to replicate the feel of a Mexican eating house, with bright fluorescent lights to brighten up the area.  You can either opt to create your meal following 3 simple steps: 1. Choose your style 2. Choose your filling 3. Add extras, or you can choose from the combo meals, which comes with housemade tortilla chips and soft drink can.  MexOut’s   Burrito   [$9.50 for Small, $12.50 for Large]   is   a meal on its own, the 12-inch soft flour tortilla wrap is filled with Mexican rice, black beans, pico de gallo, cheese and filling of your choice. This is the Braised Beef with Fire Roasted Salsa, but there are other options such a...

Sticky Wings - First Asian Fried Chicken Restaurant

I was craving for fried chicken so I headed down to 4Fingers , and boy I was surprised to see that the spot where 4Fingers used to be is now housing another fried chicken restaurant called Sticky Wings.  Sticky Wings is Singapore’s first Asian inspired fried chicken chain.  Looks interesting, let’s check it out.   The menu is divided into 5 sections: Wings & Drumsticks, Burger, Xtras, Beverages and Sides. There are not many items on the menu at Sticky Wings. We Meet Again (Rendang Bolognese Fries)  [$6.50] is the Asian-inspired version of the popular chilli beef fries. The cheese and rendang   works   surprisingly well. You can taste the aroma and sweetness of the rendang and the cheese gives it a nice - for lack of a better word - cheesiness.  There are various wings and drumsticks combinations to choose   from   Black Belt (1 Drumstick + 3 2-Joint Wings)   [$8.20 Ala Carte, $10.70 Combo], Level Up (4 Drumsticks + 8 2-Joint W...

Simply Wrapps (Raffles City) - Delicious and Healthy Salad or Wraps

I see a long queue outside Simply Wrapps every day during lunch and dinner times and I have always thought Simply Wrapps is "just another salad bar". I changed my perception of Simply Wrapps after having their salads and wraps.  There are only two options at Simply Wrapps: salad or warp, which takes the chore out of choosing. Salads start at $8.80 and wraps at $8.90 which consists of romaine or red and white cabbage with 6 toppings. You can also opt to upgrade your salad or wrap base to baby spinach or mesclun for an additional $1.50. There are 5 choices of wraps with differing calories: plain (280 calories), wholemeal (190 calories), tomato basil (270 calories), lemon grass (260 calories) and spinach (260 calories). Extra toppings are charged at $0.50 for regular toppings, $1.50 for blue-coded toppings, $2.50 for green-coded toppings and $3 for red-coded toppings.  If you don't want to make your own salad or wrap, there are 15 Chef's Creations to choose from.  If ...

Opened by the same people behind Chicken up, Burger Monster is the first restaurant in Singapore to serve Korean burgers. Monster Burger serves burgers, rolls, fried chicken and fried fish alongside other dishes and $2 side dishes. What sets Monster Burger apart from other burger restaurants is their sauces. They don't just have one, two or three sauces to choose from ... they have eight different sauces to choose from.
