Fatburger & Buffalo’s (Velocity @ Novena Square)

Gone are the days when hamburgers were considered junk food. Many people now consider hamburgers as proper meals and hamburger restaurants have been becoming more and more popular.  Lovie Yancey founded Fatburger in 1952. She named it “Fatburger” because she wanted to “get across the idea of a big burger with everything in it ... a meal in itself”. Fatburger has gone on to become a successful fast casual restaurant chain in America.  Fatburger is now available in Singapore, with 2 locations at Velocity  @ Novena Square and Kinex (preciously known as OneKM).  It’s all about burgers at Fatburger. The beef patties are made of 100% fresh ground lean beef, grilled to perfection and built to order, served on freshly-toasted sponge-dough bun.  The Velocity @ Novena Square menu also has Hot Dogs with three choices: Classic Hot Dog [$6.90, $10.90 with meal], Chili Dog [$7.90, $11.90 with meal], or Chili Cheese Dog [$8.90, $12.90 with meal]. These two are  Single (Or...

So Ramen - Classic and Creative Ramen Restaurant

I am unapologetically in love with ramen. A good bowl of ramen can really do wonders.     My favorite ramen is still   Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King   at the moment for its thick creamy pork bone broth, but I am always willing to try out other ramen restaurants.        I recently found a ramen restaurant in Velocity @ Novena Square. It is fully-packed everyday during lunch, which is a good sign. Let’s find out if their ramen is worth the wait.      So Ramen has 3 types of handmade ramen to pair with different broths. Hosomen ramen is thin and straight, it goes well with the thick and creamy tonkotsu ramen. Chijiremen ramen is thin and wavy, it is paired with shoyu broth. Futomen ramen is thicker than the previous two and it goes well with miso broth. All the ramen noodles are made lovingly by hand using premium wheat flour.      There are various combinations available but if you want to get all the toppin...

Reunion BBQ (东北人烤肉坊) - Authentic Northeastern Chinese Dishes

Maybe the gods heard my craving for some good Northeastern  China food, I have found quite a few restaurants in Singapore that specializes in dishes from Northeastern China. Please read my reviews on  Dong Bei Xiao Chu (东北小厨)  and   Alati Skewers .  One of my colleague knows that I have been craving for Northern Chinese food, she agreed to bring me and a few other colleagues to a Northeastern Chinese restaurant that she discovered recently.  When you enter Reunion BBQ for the first time, it may take a while to get used to the bright red colors. Part of the walls and the chairs are covered with red patterned clothes that reminds me of countryside restaurants in China. Red is a festive color to Chinese people, this restaurant is definitely very festive-looking.  As its name implies, Reunion BBQ is supposed to specialize in barbecue. Reunion BBQ combines traditional charcoal barbecue with trending Korean-style barbecue. But most customers come to R...

Konjiki Hototogisu (Paragon) - Shinjuku Michelin One Star Restaurant

Singaporeans love Japanese ramen and Japanese ramen restaurants know that. Japanese ramen restaurants have been popping up like mushrooms all around Singapore.  I am a self-professed ramen-lover.   Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King , and   are a few of my favorite ramen restaurants.  Konjiki Hototogisu Ramen created quite a stir when its flagship restaurant opened in CHIJMES in June 2018. This award-winning ramen restaurant from Shinjuku was one of the Tokyo Michelin Bib Gourmand 2015-2018 and it was finally awarded one michelin star in 2019.  Following the success of the second outlet at Great World City, Konjiki Hototogisu Ramen has recently opened a third outlet in Paragon in Orchard Road.  Chef Atsushi Yamamoto has created two new ramens for the new outlet in Paragon - Iberico Shoyu Ramen and Crab Ramen. Let’s try out these two new ramens.  Niigata is known for their local gourmet speciality, ginger shoyu ramen. Chef Atsushi Yamamoto takes a creative spi...
