Hana K Food (Velocity @ Novena Square)

I was having a very strong craving for a good hot kimchi stew the other day, so I decided to check out the Korean restaurant that my colleagues have been telling me about.      Hana K Food looked like one of those fake Korean restaurants run by Chinese chefs so I wasn’t very hopeful. But after eating there once, I was hooked.     Hana K Food's   Kimchi Soup   [$14.50] has the perfect balance of sourness and spiciness. It looks fiery hot, but it is really not as bad as it looks. You can choose beef/pork/chicken/seafood/fishcake/ham/tuna (+$3) as topping for the kimchi soup. This is perfect for cold rainy days, or when you are craving for something spicy and sour.     Eel Soup   [$24.50] and Louch Soup [$21.50] are not only stamina-boosting, it apparently has many beauty and health benefits too. These two soups are not commonly found even in Korea and it is even rarer in Singapore. I got the Eel Soup as it is less spicy of the two. The sou...

Gochi-So Shokudo (Westgate) - Premium Iberico Pork Restaurant

"Shokudo" means "casual restaurant or cafeteria" in Japanese and this word reminds me of the delicious Ginkakuji Tofu Pot I had at   Harakiku Shokudo   in Kyoto. So when I saw that a new restaurant has opened up in Westgate called Gochi-So Shokudo, I definitely had to check it out.      Gochi-So Shokudo specializes in iberico pork, which comes from the Black Iberian Pig. This special breed of pigs have higher fat content than other pigs, which makes the pork more tender.      Gochi-So Shokudo serves iberico pork in 5 different styles - don, katsu, curry, ribs and steak.      There is a poster outside the restaurant  that tells you the top 5 must-try dishes at Gochi-So Shokudo. It takes the hassle of deciding what to eat.      Charcoal Grill Pork Jowl Don   [$13.80] is served on a bed of fragrant Japanese rice. The smoked and cured pig cheeks are accompanied by a poached egg and pickled vegetables. The extra ...

Le Shrimp Ramen - Chinese-Style Ramen

What attracted me to Le Shrimp Ramen in the first place is not the fact that it is part of Paradise Group. It is the fact that this restaurant is fully-packed everyday during lunch.      Le Shrimp Ramen must be doing something right, I decided to check out this restaurant.     Le Shrimp Ramen features 3 types of shrimp ramen, infusing Chinese elelments into classic Japanese ramen.     Le Signature Trio Shrimp Ramen   招牌三虾赤汤面   [$19], the name itself already sounds so luxurious. The broth does not disappoint, full of shrimp flavor from the homemade ebiko prawn paste. The noodles lack a little chewiness, but saved by the succulent prawn dumplings and fresh big prawns.    The other variations are Big Prawns & Braised Pork Ribs Shrimp Ramen 大虾猪软骨赤汤面 [$17.90], Ebiko Prawn Paste Shrimp Ramen 鱼子虾滑赤汤面 [$14.90], Big Prawns Shrimp Ramen 大虾赤汤面 [$18.90], Prawn Dumplings Shrimp Ramen 鲜虾水饺赤汤面 [$13.90] and Braised Pork Ribs Shrimp Ramen 葱烤猪软骨赤...

Little Caesars Pizza - World's Third Largest Pizza Chain in Raffles Place

Little Caesars Pizza was founded by couple Mike Ilitch and Marian Bayoff in 1959 in Garden City, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. Little Caesars Pizza became the largest carryout-only pizza chain in the United States and the world's third largest pizza chain after Pizza Hut and Domino's Pizza.  But I definitely don't see any sign of its overwhelming success when I chanced upon the empty Little Caesars Pizza restaurant in Collyer Quay.  To be honest, the big poster advertising $7.99 Hot-N-Ready Large Pepperoni was the only thing that drew me in. Little Caesars Pizza serves pizzas, caesar wings and Italian cheese bread. There are 4 pizzas to choose from: Hula Hawaiian, 3 Meat Treat, Ultimate Supreme and Veggie - all at $13.49 per 12-inch pizza. There are a variety of combos available to choose from, from Drink Combo [$9.50], Crazy Bread Combo [$12], Caesar Wings Combo [$15] to Family Combo [$35]. Pepperoni   [$13.49] is an all-time American classic pizza but it is not as popu...

Citrus by The Pool (Woodlands) - Western Halal Restaurant Next to The Pool

It has been a while since I last posted a review on halal restaurants.  I have been seeing many of my friends rave about this halal restaurant called Citrus By The Pool on Instagram. When Mariem and I finally found a date we could both make it, I suggested we go to Citrus By The Pool.  Citrus By The Pool is named so because the restaurant is right next to Woodlands Swimming Complex. It is a 10-minute walk from Woodlands or Marsiling MRT. It is halal-certified, so Muslim friends can dine here without worry. The interior of Citrus By The Pool is clean and spacious with grey tile walls and ceiling-to-floor glass window that makes the place feel more spacious than it actually is.  Besides the usual appetisers, sides and main, Citrus By The Pool also has burgers and pastas. The drinks menu takes up a whole page with sundaes, mighty milkshakes and floats in addition to the usual coffee and tea. You can find the full menu   here .  Party Basket   [$16.90] consists...
