Luke’s Lobster - Sustainably-Sourced Lobster, Crab and Shrimp Rolls

My love affair with lobster rolls started in London where I took my first bite at   Burger & Lobster (SOHO) . I have also tried the lobster rolls at   Burger & Lobster (Jewel Changi Airport) ,   Chunky Lobsters   and now Luke’s Lobster.  Luke’s Lobster originated from East Village of New York, USA in 2009 and now it is available near the entrance of Isetan Scotts. This seafood company serves sustainably-sourced lobster, crab and shrimp straight from the source.  The menu is concise and straightforward. The prices are a little steep compared to Chunky Lobsters.  You can either get the individual rolls or get   Luke’s Trio   [S$33.50] which gives you half a lobster roll, half a crab roll and half a shrimp roll. This is perfect for people like me who want a taste of everything. I was pleasantly surprised by the generous number of shrimps in the Shrimp Roll [S$21.50]. The shrimps are fresh and crunchy but not as sweet as I imagined...

Flipper’s Singapore - Famous Soufflé Pancakes from Japan

I loved the cloud-like soufflé pancakes I had at Belle-Ville Pancake House (Square 2)   and   Fluff Stack (Northpoint City).   So I was really excited to learn that the famous Flippers’ Pancakes from Japan has arrived in Singapore, known as Flipper’s Singapore here.  Avoid meal hours and weekends if possible. To write this post, I actually timed to arrive half an hour after opening hour and the restaurant was already half-full. You can also pre-book your table with   q4what .    Flipper’s is decked out in cheery yellow and white colors, complete with yellow plastic chairs. You can see how the pancakes are made through the open-concept kitchen. The open-concept kitchen also gives the illusion that the space is bigger than it actually is.   There is no physical menu, you will have to scan a QR code and order online.  Flipper’s kiseki pancakes are available in 5 flavors: Kiseki Pancake [S$16.80], Matcha Azuki [S$19.80], Fresh Fruits ...

Tiong Bahru Bakery (Funan Mall) - Delicious Pastries in Cafe Atmosphere

I was on my way to visit Urban Farm @ Funan when I saw Tiong Bahru Bakery (Funan Mall).  Master baker Gontran Cherrier founded Tiong Bahru Bakery in 2012. He operated the first store at Eng Hoon Street under Spa Esprit Group. Tiong Bahru Bakery now has 6 outlets spread across Singapore.  Tiong Bahru Bakery (Funan Mall) has a cafe layout with padded chairs and sofas. The orange lighting and display of freshly-baked goodies made the place look warm and inviting. Tiong Bahru Bakery is famous for their croissants. I usually go for the plain   Croissant   [S$3.50], but I wanted to try something new so I got a   Almond Croissant   [S$4.80] instead. It is a little flatter than the plain croissant, laden down by the almond flakes on the croissant. The croissant itself if buttery and soft. The almond flakes gives the croissant a nutty crunchiness while powdered sugar gives it a little sweetness. There are also   Green Tea Almond Croissant   [S$...

Shake Shack (VivoCity) - First Shake Shack Experience

It has been more than a year since Shake Shack’s first restaurant opened at Jewel Changi Airport. Shake Shack shows no sign of stopping and it has since opened 4 new outlets around Singapore. I have been wanting to try out Shake Shack but the long travel distance and even longer queues kept me away. Shake Shack’s newest outlet VivoCity is not too far for me and the queue is manageable so I am finally going to try Shake Shack for myself. ShackBurger   [Single S$9.20, Double s$12.70] is Shake Shack’s signature burger. The 100% all-natural Angus beef patty that everyone swears by is indeed juicy and tender. The brioche buns are so soft and tender, they are good enough to eat on their own. Lettuce, tomato and the secret ShakeSauce completes the burger. Since Shake Shack started off as a hot dog stand, it feels only right to order a   Shack-cago Dog [S$6.50]. The grilled hot dog is sandwiched in a hot dog bun and topped with onion, cucumber, pickle, tomato, sport pepper and ...
