Lucali BYGB - Expensive Romantic Candle-Lit Restaurant

When Lucali BYGB first arrived in Singapore, everyone was crazy about this collaboration between New York pizza restaurant Lucali and the BYGB group. My first encounter with this pizza restaurant was when a colleague bought a huge pizza from them for my farewell party. Even though it was too big and I ended up being half the pizza home, but the taste was impeccable. I wanted the whole experience so I made plans to visit the restaurant with friends. You actually have to key in your credit card details when making a reservation on their website. For cancellations in less than 24 hours or no show, you will be charged $50! I think this is a bit too much! Location Lucali BYGB is housed in Kallang Rivergreen Building, which is a little troublesome to get to. The nearest MRT station is Lavender, you will have to walk another 10-15 minutes to get to the location. There is a rambling shack of a restaurant on the ground that many mistake for Lucali BYGB. You will need to take the lift to level M...

POCHA! Korean Street Food Dining (JEM)

I recently had one of the best corndog at River Hongbao 2023 and it kickstarted an insatiable craving for Korean street food. I know just the place - POCHA! Korean Street Food Dining opened not long ago in JEM. POCHA! Korean Street Food Dining takes inspiration from   pojangmacha , colorful Korean street stalls that come to life when night falls. The menu features the various snacks you can find at these   pojangmacha . Decor The fairy lights across the ceiling does remind me of Korean street stalls. The life-size paintings on the walls makes me feel as if I am really seating in a pochangmacha. The Food Tteobokki [S$10.90] is too common, I decided to skip that and go for   Chunky Tteok   [S$18.90].  The mozzarella cheese on top gives the tteobokki a nice cheesy flavor. The fried chicken pieces makes this dish even more substantial. I have a thing for   Eomuk   (Korean fish cakes) [S$8.90] which was why I made a special trip to the now-closed   Sam...

The Ice Cream Bar - Handcrafted Alcoholic Ice-Cream

I recently brought my friends for dinner at   MIZ Japanese Restaurant . After dinner, we decided to have ice-cream for dessert. One of the guys found an ice-cream cafe nearby, so we made our way to The Ice Cream Bar. The Ice Cream Bar This ice-cream bar is just further down from MIZ Japanese Restaurant which makes navigation pretty easy. It is a minimalist bar with earthen-tone design and slick interior. The Ice Cream What sets The Ice Cream Bar apart from other ice-cream parlors are their artisanal alcoholic ice-creams. While most places have at most one or two alcoholic options, half of the ice-cream flavors contain alcohol here. The ice-creams are made with premium ingredients and top-shelf liquors. Non-alcoholic flavors: Valehona Chocolate Sicilian Pistachio Rocher White Chocolate Raspberry Crunchy Genmaicha Unicorn Earl Grey Lavender Alcoholic flavours: Crunchy Coffee Whiskey Black Forest Khalua Cheesecake Baileys Brownies Guinness Pistachio Whisky Chocolate Chip Bacardi Choco...

Wallet-Friendly Romantic Restaurants for Valentine’s Day 2023

February is the month of Valentine’s Day 2023. Even though I personally feel that Valentine’s Day has become too commercialized, many couples take this opportunity to celebrate their love for one another. As a regular salaried worker, I don’t have the budget to splurge on expensive fine-dining restaurants. Instead, I prefer small intimate restaurants with cosy ambiance and great food that stays within $200 per couple. Here is a list of my favorite restaurants for Valentine’s Day 2023: Pasta Brava Stepping into Pasta Brava feels like going into a cosy Italian home. The floors are all carpeted, wooden tables and padded chairs gives off a cosy ambience. The soft lights are not that great for photography, but makes the place feel even more cosy. Pasta Brava has specially created a Valentine’s Day menu at S$178++ for 2. The 3-course dinner includes 2 non-alcoholic drinks (soft drink, iced lemon tea or their specially created Valentine Mocktail). I have personally dined at Pasta Brava (r...
