WANt Food Taiwanese Delights 恋恋湾味

I have been craving for Taiwanese food so I decided to check out the newly-opened WANt Food 恋恋湾味 in Holland Village. It’s a cute Taiwanese cafe at the end of the Lorong Liput slope. The white walls and wooden panels inside gives the restaurant a clean and contemporary feel. The Food I skipped the classic Lu Rou Fan 卤肉饭 [S$7.90] and opted   for Oyster Intestine Mee Sua  [Small (250ml) S$6.90, Large (500ml) S$9.90] instead. Even though I can get oyster mee sua at Shilin Taiwan Street Snacks in almost every shopping centre in Singapore, oyster mee sua with intestine is more rare. The intestines are very clean and cooked till really tender. The oysters are succulent and juicy, bursting with flavor in my mouth. Scallion pancakes (葱油饼) is a popular street snack in Taiwan.  Crispy Cheese & Pork Floss Egg Pancake   [S$6] is a classic combination. The rich cheesiness and sweet pork floss compliments the eggy pancake so well. Salty Crispy Chicken  (盐酥鸡) [S$8.90...

Dynasty Fried Porridge 皇庭炒粥

I am quite familiar with fried rice and fried noodles … but   fried porridge ? Apparently, it originates from Penang, Malaysia. I am going to try this fried porridge at Dynasty Fried Porridge, which is supposed to be the original and best in Singapore. This is a stall in Bistro 8, a corner coffeeshop on Foch Road. This stall is a zi char stall, besides fried porridge, you can order many zi char dishes as well. This is their signature Dynasty Famous Fried Porridge. The fried porridge is served in a claypot, I believe to retain the heat. On first look, it looks like a cross between a very thick western soup and porridge. The rice grains have almost all broken down, the consistency is like a thicker version of Cantonese congee. Inside you will find pieces of spring onion, onions, yam and pork slices. But the real unami comes from the pieces of pork lard that are thrown in, these bits heavenly crisps make all the difference. This is really comfort food at its best. I can definit...

Kota88 Restaurant - Chinese Indonesian Restaurant in East Coast

Last Sunday, I finally got a chance to explore Jurassic Mile in Changi with my friends on bicycles followed by lunch at Kota88 Restaurant. Kota88 Restaurant seems really popular. The restaurant was bustling with families, there were even people on crutches. Is the food so good that even mobility issues can't stop them from coming? Let's check it out. The Decor Kota88 is located in a shophouse along East Coast Road. The interior is clean and spacious with retro oriental vibes. On the wall are pictures of old Shanghainese posters and old calendar dates in photo frames. The highlight of the restaurant is the bar counter. Bottles of liquors neatly line the dark green wall shelf behind the bar counter. Sliding glass panels on the top shelf have the words "吃得满足” which means "eat to you are satisfied". The Food Kota88's   menu   focuses on Chinese cuisine with Indonesian culinary characteristics. This is because Kota88 hails from Glodok, Jarkarta's Chinatown. ...
