BIZEN Okayama Wagyu Steakhouse - Quality Wagyu from $20.50+

I love a good steak and I usually get my fix at   Pepper Lunch Restaurant (JEM) . While Pepper Lunch serves quality steak at affordable prices, it lacks variety. A friend recently introduced a new steak restaurant called BIZEN Okayama Wagyu Steakhouse where you can get different cuts of beef. BIZEN Okayama Wagyu Steakhouse is part of the ASTONS Group which has been serving quality Western cuisine at affordable prices for years. BIZEN Okayama Steakhouse @ Funan The Funan outlet is located in the basement of Funan Mall. It’s hard to miss the red and white signage against black metal backdrop. Plants and foliage decorate the black metal stands to give the place some greenery and makes the place look more inviting. Aside from normal wooden tables and chairs, there are long tables in the middle of the restaurant with water running under the table top. I don’t really understand what it’s for, perhaps to keep the temperature cool in the restaurant? The Food BIZEN Okayama Wagyu Steakhouse ...

Mitsu Sushi Bar - Super Fresh Sashimi and Sushi

A new friend that I made during a hiking trip was returning back to the US and I wanted to treat him to a farewell dinner. He said he wanted to have some good sushi so I brought him to Mitsu Sushi Bar. Mitsu Sushi Bar is a small Japanese restaurant on Duxton Road that specializes in sushi and sashimi. There are also Japanese rice bowls, noodles, seafood and meat dishes. Decor There are only counter seats on the  ground floor of Mitsu Sushi Bar. These 12 counter seats all face the counter, giving you full view of the sushi chef at work. The wooden earthen furnishings makes this small Japanese restaurant feel very authentic. There are Japanese-style rooms on the upper floor for groups of 4 people and more (reservation needed). The Food To ensure optimal freshness and best selection of fish, Mitsu Sushi Bar ships fresh fish and produce five times a week from two of Japan’s most well-known markets, Kyushu and Hokkaido. Mitsu Sushi Bar serves a wide variety of sake and sochu to compleme...

Two Chefs Bar - Italian Mexican Restaurant in Sentosa Cove

I recently joined a hiking tour to Sentosa Cove and the hike ended with dinner at Two Chefs Bar. Two Chefs Bar Two Chefs Bar is one of the many restaurants running along the Sentosa Cove quayside. The outdoor alfresco seats gives you a great view of the yatch docked in Sentosa Cove. Warm orange lights inside the restaurant gives the restaurant a warm glow. The Food Two Chefs Bar specializes in Italian and Mexican cuisines. You can find the full menu   here . I have had my fair share of   Italian   cuisine, so I decided to focus on Mexican food. Starting a meal with a salad is always a good idea. There are 5 salads available,   Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad   [S$18] is a great option for those who want something familiar. The warm grilled chicken pairs well with the crispy romaine lettuce, parmesan, croutons and homemade caesar dressing. Fajitas   [Vegetable S$22, Chicken S$26, Beef S$28, Shrimp S$30, Mixed S$30] is a popular northern Mexican dish. Your choic...

Madly Good - Dessert Cafe in Clementi Mall

Located on the 5th floor of Clementi Mall, Madly Good is a dessert cafe that specializes in waffles, crepes and pancakes. Design Madly Good’s shop is only for ordering and payment, the seating area is in the corridor in front of the shop. The seating area in the middle of the walkway feels like a slice of oasis. I like the wooden tables and chairs which gives the place a more natural feel. Wooden fences with green plants makes this place feel very comfortable. The Food Besides waffles, crepes and pancakes, Madly Good also offers some savoury bites and affogato. Madlygood All Day Brunch   [S$21.5] is Madly Good’s version of the big breakfast. The chicken sausages, chicken ham, scrambled eggs and baked beans are pretty normal but the pancakes are to-die-for. These oval-shapes pancakes are so thick they are almost like bread, yet they are so moist and fluffy. I will come back for these pancakes anytime. Waffles and pancakes can be found in many cafes in Singapore but crepes are a litt...

Wang Family Kitchen - $18.90 Nett Korean Buffet

Wang Family Kitchen serves Korean buffet, but it's not Korean barbecue buffet. Instead, it is a a buffet of cooked Korean dishes and side dishes. The dishes and side dishes change everyday, you can find out the menu of the day from their   Instagram   and   Facebook Page . Location Wang Family Kitchen is located on the ground floor of Hillview Community Club. Unless you live in the area, you probably won’t know about this place. It’s next to Domino Pizza, the huge red signboard above the door make it easy to find this restaurant. There are both indoor and outdoor seats. The interior is clean and bright ample seating. The wooden table and green plastic chairs reminds me of school canteens. The Experience Once you enter the restaurant, a kind-looking ajusshi (Korean word for “uncle”) brings you to a table and give you a bottle of mineral water with a cup. Since Covid started, they have stopped allowing customers to take their own food from the buffet table. They...
