Ssak3 Korean BBQ & Bistro - 90 Minutes Unlimited Ssak3 Buffet

It’s ironic how I visit Bras Basah Complex regularly but I had no idea there is a Korean barbecue restaurant called Ssak3 Korean BBQ & Bistro on the second floor. It turned out Ssak was originally the Bras Basah branch of the Ssikkek Korean BBQ chain. It was renamed Ssak3 Korean BBQ & Bistro in 2020. Decor With television screens showing Korean mukbangs both inside and outlet the restaurant, it’s impossible not to crave for some Korean food when you are here. I saw many groups of Koreans dining so I believe the food here must be pretty authentic. The Food The 90 Minute Unlimited Ssak3 Buffet is available Monday - Thursday for lunch and dinner at S$29.90 for adults and S$19.90 for child (90-120cm). Unlike buffets like   K.Cook Korean BBQ   where there are many different meats to choose from, Ssak3 only offers 4 type of meats: Duroc Honeycomb Pork Belly Beef Short Plate Marinated Pork Marinated Chicken I love the honeycomb pork belly which are so thin, they taste ...

The Dim Sum Place - Halal Dim Sums

Located near to   Tipo Gnocchi   is another halal restaurant that specializes in halal dim sum, The Dim Sum Place. The Dim Sum Place has three outlets - Bugis, The Centrepoint and Changi City Point. You can find the   menu   on their website. Dim Sum Har Gow or otherwise known as   Crystal Shrimp Dumpling 水晶虾饺   [S$6.90 for 3 pieces] is every bit as good as the non-halal ones. I find their   Chicken Feet with Special Sauce 酱皇蒸风爪   [S$6.90] a little too sweet for my liking but the chicken feet are steamed till so tender that the bones fall right off. Steamed Chicken Siew Mai with Shrimp 鲜虾鸡肉烧卖   [S$6.90 for 3 pieces] are so juicy and flavorful, I love stuffing a piece in my mouth and taste the explosion of flavors. Vermicelli Roll with Roasted Chicken Char Siew 烧鸡叉烧肉肠粉   [S$8.90] is every bite as good as the ones I have had at other   dim sum restaurants. The vermicelli rolls are so smooth and silky which pairs beautifully wit...

Master He BBQ Restaurant 何师傅烤骨头

Besides Chinatown, Geylang is another place where you can find many Northeastern-Chinese (东北菜) restaurants. The restaurant that I wanted to visit has closed down so I ended up having dinner at Master He BBQ Restaurant 何师傅烤骨头. The Food Special Roasted Spine 特色烤棒骨   [S$4] is the speciality here. You have the grab the huge bone with your hand which is where the accompanying plastic glove comes in handy. There’s not much meat on the bone, which is heavily seasoned with a sweet sauce. I think I will like it better if it were seasoned with cumin powder like lamb skewers. Lamb Shashlik 羊肉串 [S$5 for 5 sticks]   is just how I like it, the cumin powder making the lamb ever so tasty. Corn Polenta Cake 玉米饼 [S$7]  is a much more interesting alternative to the usual buns. These pancakes are made with ground cornmeal and have a natural sweetness. The cold sweet and sour   Northeast Cold Noodle 东北大冷面   [S$8] is so perfect for Singapore’s sweltering weather, I’m suprised ...

UYA Charcoal-Grilled Live Unagi (Oasia Hotel Novena)

I visited the first   Uya Japanese Unagi Restaurant 四代目菊川 in Wheelock Place   back in 2019. The restaurant has since been renamed to UYA Charcoal-Grilled Live Unagi. There is now a second outlet in Oasia Hotel Novena which happens to be next to Marmalade Pantry. Eel A La Carte UYA Charcoal-Grilled Live Unagi offers some interesting appetizers made with eels which is not commonly found elsewhere: Deep Fried Liver   [S$9] surprisingly doesn’t have any fishy smell. The deep-fried   Crispy Bone   [S$6] is such an interesting snack. It looks like a whip, and it’s really crispy. Eel Set Menu Their signature   Hitsumabushi   [Medium S$37, Large S$50] is still as good as I remembered. It is served with condiments, pickles, broth and miso soup. If this is your first time having hitsumabushi, you can refer to this card for instructions on how best to enjoy this delicacy. Use the wooden spoon to divide the unagi rice into four portions and scoop into the empty bo...
