Nalan Restaurant - Indian Vegetarian Restaurant

Nalan Restaurant at the basement of Capitol Piazza looks posh for an Indian vegetarian restaurant but the prices are actually pretty reasonable. While most Indian restaurants serve either Northern or Southern Indian cuisine, Nalan serves a good variety of both. Check out their   menu . A good example of South Indian cuisine is   Idli   [S$10 for 3 pieces] which comes with 3 accompanying dipping sauce. Another South Indian staple is thosai, a thin pancake made from batter of various fermented pulses and rice four. Nalan Restaurant offers 18 types of thosai. I chose   Paper Thosai   [S$12] because I like the crispiness. It comes with a small mount of potato masala in the middle, which is delicious. Naan are from North Indian and they are perfect for mopping up all the delicious curries. There are   Plain Naan   [S$5],   Butter/Garlic/Sesame Naan   [S$6],   Layered Naan   [S$6] and   Cheese Naan   [S$7]. Paneer Butter ...

It was acquired in the 1910s by the colonial government and housed senior engineers, surveyors and the second in command of the China-British Naval fleet, Admiral Layton for 2 years 1940-1942. During the Japanese Occupation, it was said to be used by the Japanese as Headquarters. It is now a seaside restaurant managed by Sembawang Seafood Paradise Pte Ltd and it is a popular venue for weddings. The Food As you can see from the   menu , Beaulieu House offers Western cuisine, Chinese seafood and local delights. I typically go for anything with the word “homemade” so   Homemade Specialty Beancurd 招牌翡翠豆腐   [S$15] is right up my alley. The tofu is freshly-made in-house with vegetable juice hence the greenish color. Steam Halibut Fillet with Black Fungus and Wolfberrie...
