A-One Claypot House (Suntec City)

Claypot rice is one of Singapore's iconic foods. Claypot stalls can be found in all food centers and food courts.

A-One Claypot has been in operations since 2008, bringing claypot rice and congee into every part of Singapore. A-One has become so successful that claypot rice and congee is synonymous with A-One.

A-One Claypot House has taken over the spot previously occupied by Wendy at the East Wing of Suntec City Mall.

Opt for this healthy Homemade Barley which is not too sweet.

This is a restaurant that specialises in claypot and a meal does not feel complete without this classic dish which originated from the southern part of China. Many of the claypot dishes served here are Singapore classic dishes such as Claypot Dried Chilli Frog's Meat. For those of us who cannot take spicy food, you can choose either Claypot Sesame Oil Chicken or Claypot Frog's Meat with Scallion Ginger Sauce.

Dried Scallop Porridge with Minced Meat, Century Egg, Salted Egg and Egg is one of the restaurant's signature dish. The smooth Cantonese-style congee is loaded with ingredients, cooked and served in the signature claypot.

Bring some greens into your meal by ordering Assorted Vegetables in Sambal Sauce. Fresh seasonal vegetables are tossed in a fragrant sambal sauce made from chilli peppers, shrimp paste and an assortment of condiments.

Deep Fried Prawns with Creamy Butter Sauce is a definite crowd-pleaser. Big scrumptious prawns are coated with batter and deep-fried in a creamy butter sauce that reminds me of Butter Crabs. If only there were more sauce, I would have loved to dip a few mantous in that lip-smacking sauce.

The restaurant was offering a special promotion for sea bass with four different ways of cooking: Steamed (Teochew Style), Steamed (Hong Kong Style), Deep Fried and Deep Fried (Tangy Speciality Sauce). We took the staff's recommendation and ordered Deep Fried Seabass with Tangy Speciality Sauce. The sweet and sour speciality sauce is delightful but the poor seabass has been fried just a little too much and the meat has become a little leathery.

There is nothing special about the Handmade Beancurd with Crab Meat and Shrimps. If no one pointed out that the beancurd is homemade, I would be none the wiser because the tastes the same as any others.

Honey Sweet & Sour Pork is surprisingly good. The pork tender and coated in a sweet and sour sauce that is perfectly balanced. This is definitely one of the best Sweet & Sour Pork I have had so far.

The signature claypot dishes and claypot congee are definitely a must-try, together with a good selection of classic stir-fry dishes, makes A-One Claypot House a place to return time and again.

PAUL

PAUL is a renowned family French bakery and patisserie founded in 1889. Bringing with them them the fine tradition of passion for food and French traditions, PAUL gives Singaporeans a glimpse into French culture and tradition through the delicious and visually-appealing pastries and food.       PAUL's Hot Chocolate is not as creamy as I would have liked it but every last drop is made with good-quality cocoa powder.     Lemon Tart With Meringue is not exactly my favourite dessert, but it looked so pretty that I decided to give it a try anyway. However, it proved to be too sour for my palette even with the beautifully flamed meringue.    Croque Madame is croque-monsieur (grilled ham and cheese sandwich) topped with a fried egg. Emmental cheese, cream and ham is sandwich in pain de eie and toasted till a rich golden brown colour. Topped with a fried egg with runny yolk, every bite is filled with delicious goodness.   Address and telephone n...

O'ma Spoon

Korean bingsu is a popular Korean dessert comprising of ice shavings and various ingredients such as sweetened condensed milk, fruit syrups, fresh fruits, Korean rice cake and ice-cream. Bingsu is all the craze in Singapore now and Korean bingsu cafes are popping up everywhere like wild mushrooms.                            Besides bingsu, this dessert cafe also serves usual cafe offerings such as coffee and tea. I have been told that their Signature Oven-Baked Honey Bread is very good. The flavours include Strawberry & Chocolate with Ice Cream, Banana & Chocolate with Ice Cream and Green Tea with Ice Cream.     I was told that   Mango Cheesecake Bingsu   is one of the most popular item on the menu. Oh my, it is a sight to behold! A bowl of shaved ice is topped with sweetened condensed milk and freshly-cut m...

Grandma's - Authentic Singapore Food

Grandma's has been around for quite a while now but I only got the chance to try their food recently when the third outlet opened in Suntec City.        I remember having these prawn crackers when I was little. They are so easy and good to eat, I can finish a whole package of this in one sitting.     I don't usually order Malay food, but the Nasi Bukhari looked so good in the menu, I thought I will give it a try. Fragrant yellow turmeric rice is served with golden brown chicken leg which is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Prawns were fresh and succulent but I don't really like the sauce the prawns are cooked in. What really amazes me about this dish is the beef rendang.          I never knew Bo Bo Cha Cha is so such a delightful dessert until I tried it here at Grandma's. The warm and thick coconut tastes so good with chunks of sweet potato and yam. This is definitely comfort food that warms the heart.   Gr...
