Edge (Pan Pacific Singapore)

Edge at Pan pacific Singapore has acclaimed many awards and accolades such as Wine & Dine Singapore's Top Restaurants 2015, Best Buffet, 2014 RAS Epicurean Star Awards "Best Buffet", Fortune Times "Best Buffet" and many others, testimony of the international buffet's prestige as one of Singapore's best buffets.

Edge boasts seven live theatres showcasing Singaporean, Chinese, Malay, Indian, Thai, Japanese and Pan Pacific's signature "Pacific Cuisine", but you will realize that there are way more than 7 stations because there are many stations within the stations.

Let's explore the wonderful world of Edge!

The standard buffet includes free-flow coffee and tea and soft drinks. Fresh fruit juice and wines are available at extra charge.

Let's start with the Appetizers. There is a Salad Station where you can assemble your own salad with fresh vegetables and tantalizing sauces. There are also ready-to-eat salads available such as Smoked Salmon and Crab Meat Salad.

Start your meal with some freshly-baked breads from the Bread Station and 7 different cheeses from the classic cheddar to cottage cheese, displayed beautifully at the Cheese Station.

Here, we have the Roasted Meats Station or Cooked Food Station. To bring some festive cheer to the buffet, there is a special Christmas Carving of Roasted Turkey Breast and Juniper Ham. You have to try the Oxtail Stew which is fall-off-the-bone soft.

Edge is famous for their sausages, displayed with crushed ice at the Grilled Meats Station together with lamb, beef and chicken. Emmanteal Cheese is nice with pockets of creamy cheese but the Marinated Lamb was a little over-cooked.

Malay Station is filled with traditional Malay dishes such as Curry Ayam and Beef Rendang. At the Indian Station, there are classic dishes such as Chettinad Prawn Masala and the lip-smacking satays. The satays are really tasty, the beef and mutton satays are especially good.

Pasta Station offers cooked-on-the-spot pasta dishes. You can choose from a selection of 4 pastas: Spaghetti, Penne, Capellini, Fettucini and sauces include Aglio Olio, Carbonara, Brown Sauce with Turkey Meat and Tomato Herb Sauce.

Seafood Station offers crayfish, Alaska King Crab, giant scallops, clams, huge prawns and freshly-shucked oysters.

No buffet is complete with sushi and fresh sashimi from the Sushi & Sashimi Station. Edge completes the Japanese experience with hot Japanese dishes such as Pork Katsu and Japanese Chicken Curry. I remembered that I even spied a small Soba/Udon Station tucked in a corner.

Not only can you order a bowl of steaming Laksa from the Chinese Noodles Station, you can also order roast  chicken/roast duck/roast pig at the Chinese Roased Meats Station. There is even a Tze Char Stir Fried Station where you can order stir fried dishes with Garlic Oyster/Black Pepper/Salt and Pepper sauces.

Edge's Dessert Station is a sight to behold. It is actually a combination of Cake Station, Paranakan Kuey Station and Pancake and Waffle Station. Durian Pengat comes in small glass vials and they smell heavenly.

Fruits Stations offers cut fruits such as papaya, rock melon, watermelon, orange  and apples.

Even if you take only a small bite of everything, it is simply impossible to sample everything in one sitting. It is a feast for the eyes as much as the mouth and stomach. If you can only go to one buffet, this is it.

PAUL

PAUL is a renowned family French bakery and patisserie founded in 1889. Bringing with them them the fine tradition of passion for food and French traditions, PAUL gives Singaporeans a glimpse into French culture and tradition through the delicious and visually-appealing pastries and food.       PAUL's Hot Chocolate is not as creamy as I would have liked it but every last drop is made with good-quality cocoa powder.     Lemon Tart With Meringue is not exactly my favourite dessert, but it looked so pretty that I decided to give it a try anyway. However, it proved to be too sour for my palette even with the beautifully flamed meringue.    Croque Madame is croque-monsieur (grilled ham and cheese sandwich) topped with a fried egg. Emmental cheese, cream and ham is sandwich in pain de eie and toasted till a rich golden brown colour. Topped with a fried egg with runny yolk, every bite is filled with delicious goodness.   Address and telephone n...

O'ma Spoon

Korean bingsu is a popular Korean dessert comprising of ice shavings and various ingredients such as sweetened condensed milk, fruit syrups, fresh fruits, Korean rice cake and ice-cream. Bingsu is all the craze in Singapore now and Korean bingsu cafes are popping up everywhere like wild mushrooms.                            Besides bingsu, this dessert cafe also serves usual cafe offerings such as coffee and tea. I have been told that their Signature Oven-Baked Honey Bread is very good. The flavours include Strawberry & Chocolate with Ice Cream, Banana & Chocolate with Ice Cream and Green Tea with Ice Cream.     I was told that   Mango Cheesecake Bingsu   is one of the most popular item on the menu. Oh my, it is a sight to behold! A bowl of shaved ice is topped with sweetened condensed milk and freshly-cut m...

Grandma's - Authentic Singapore Food

Grandma's has been around for quite a while now but I only got the chance to try their food recently when the third outlet opened in Suntec City.        I remember having these prawn crackers when I was little. They are so easy and good to eat, I can finish a whole package of this in one sitting.     I don't usually order Malay food, but the Nasi Bukhari looked so good in the menu, I thought I will give it a try. Fragrant yellow turmeric rice is served with golden brown chicken leg which is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Prawns were fresh and succulent but I don't really like the sauce the prawns are cooked in. What really amazes me about this dish is the beef rendang.          I never knew Bo Bo Cha Cha is so such a delightful dessert until I tried it here at Grandma's. The warm and thick coconut tastes so good with chunks of sweet potato and yam. This is definitely comfort food that warms the heart.   Gr...
