Gangnam Corndog - The Only Place in Singapore for Korean Corndog

I kept seeing people doing mukbang eating corndogs recently and it got me interested in this Korean street food that is still largely unknown in Singapore. According to Google, there are two places where you can get corndogs in Singapore, Gangnam Corndog and WhatThe Corndog. Seeing how popular the post "7 Restaurants to Have Jajangmyeon and Tangsuyuk in Singapore" was, I thought it might be interesting to do another one on corndogs.

Alas, when I reached where WhatThe Corndog is supposed to be at (Tampines MRT), I realised that WhatThe Corndog has already closed down. Even the posts on their Facebook page was lasted dated November 2017.

That means Gangnam Corndog is the only place in Singapore where you can get corndogs. Let’s check it out.

Gangnam Corndog - Restaurant Front

Gangnam Corndog is located at the riverside entrance just beside my favorite Azabu Sabo ice-cream. It is a little hidden from view but that doesn’t stop Singaporeans from flocking to it.

Gangnam Corndog - Menu

Gangnam Corndog sells corndogs, twist potato, fried chicken, fried dumpling, tteokbokki, cotton candy lightbulb juice and nitro coffee.

Gangnam Corndog - Corndogs

Judging from the shop name, Gangnam Corndog specializes in corndogs. Gangnam Hotdog has 4 types of corndogs: Gangnam Corndog, Mozzarella Corndog, Cheddar Corndog and Squid Ink Corndog. This is my first time having corndogs, I got a little too excited and ordered all four different flavors to try.

Gangnam Corndog [S$4.50] is the original corndog where a sausage is coated with a thick layer of cornmeal batter and deep-fried till golden crispy. The outside is crunchy while the inside is soft and slightly stretchy.

I personally feel that there is nothing special about the Mozzarella Corndog [S$4.90], I can’t really taste the mozzarella.

I really liked the Cheddar Corndog [S$4.90]. The cheddar taste is pretty strong and stretchy which makes for great Instagram pictures.

There is nothing special about the Squid Ink Corndog [S$4.90], it’s just plain corndog with some squid ink inside and the end of the sausage split open to resemble squid tentacles.

Gangnam Corndog - Gangnam Tteokbokki

Gangnam Tteokbokki [S$9.80] has 3 spice levels. It doesn’t look very spicy but this is only spicy level 1 and it’s already mouth-numbing spicy. I like the chewiness of the rice cake but this is definitely not for the faint-hearted.

Gangnam Corndog - Fruit Punch Lightbulb Juice

Lightbulb juice is really just a marketing gimmick, but the twinkling lights and sweet juice does help to put off some of the fire from the tteokbokki . This is Fruit Punch Juice [S$5.90], there is also Mango Juice, Melon Juice, Orange and Raspberry Juice.

Both Foodpanda and Grabhub deliver Gangnam Corndog, you don’t have to go all the way to The Central for corndogs.

Gangnam Corndog

Telephone: 87529419

PAUL

PAUL is a renowned family French bakery and patisserie founded in 1889. Bringing with them them the fine tradition of passion for food and French traditions, PAUL gives Singaporeans a glimpse into French culture and tradition through the delicious and visually-appealing pastries and food.       PAUL's Hot Chocolate is not as creamy as I would have liked it but every last drop is made with good-quality cocoa powder.     Lemon Tart With Meringue is not exactly my favourite dessert, but it looked so pretty that I decided to give it a try anyway. However, it proved to be too sour for my palette even with the beautifully flamed meringue.    Croque Madame is croque-monsieur (grilled ham and cheese sandwich) topped with a fried egg. Emmental cheese, cream and ham is sandwich in pain de eie and toasted till a rich golden brown colour. Topped with a fried egg with runny yolk, every bite is filled with delicious goodness.   Address and telephone n...

Korean bingsu is a popular Korean dessert comprising of ice shavings and various ingredients such as sweetened condensed milk, fruit syrups, fresh fruits, Korean rice cake and ice-cream. Bingsu is all the craze in Singapore now and Korean bingsu cafes are popping up everywhere like wild mushrooms.                            Besides bingsu, this dessert cafe also serves usual cafe offerings such as coffee and tea. I have been told that their Signature Oven-Baked Honey Bread is very good. The flavours include Strawberry & Chocolate with Ice Cream, Banana & Chocolate with Ice Cream and Green Tea with Ice Cream.     I was told that   Mango Cheesecake Bingsu   is one of the most popular item on the menu. Oh my, it is a sight to behold! A bowl of shaved ice is topped with sweetened condensed milk and freshly-cut m...

Grandma's - Authentic Singapore Food

Grandma's has been around for quite a while now but I only got the chance to try their food recently when the third outlet opened in Suntec City.        I remember having these prawn crackers when I was little. They are so easy and good to eat, I can finish a whole package of this in one sitting.     I don't usually order Malay food, but the Nasi Bukhari looked so good in the menu, I thought I will give it a try. Fragrant yellow turmeric rice is served with golden brown chicken leg which is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Prawns were fresh and succulent but I don't really like the sauce the prawns are cooked in. What really amazes me about this dish is the beef rendang.          I never knew Bo Bo Cha Cha is so such a delightful dessert until I tried it here at Grandma's. The warm and thick coconut tastes so good with chunks of sweet potato and yam. This is definitely comfort food that warms the heart.   Gr...
