Lucky Chicken Rice - Famous Chicken Rice in Lucky Plaza

Chicken rice is one of Singapore’s most iconic dishes. Everyone has an opinion on the best chicken rice in Singapore.  Located on the second floor of Lucky Plaza in a old-school corner shop, Lucky Chicken Rice is quite a famous restaurant for its chicken rice.  The restaurant is perpetually packed during lunch time but you can always order as takeaway.  Lucky Chicken Rice offers both roasted chicken and white poached chicken. Besides chicken rice, Lucky Chicken Rice also offers noodles, porridge, soups and side dishes to go with your chicken.  This is the most basic   Boneless Roast Chicken Rice   [S$5]. The rice is fragrant and the chicken is tender. I personally don’t find it any different from other chicken rice I have eaten  outside but I do agree that the portion is pretty generous.  Lucky Chicken Rice Address: 304 Orchard Road, Lucky Plaza #02-110, Singapore 238863 Telephone: 67384175 Opening Hours: Daily 10.30am - 7.30pm

Allauddin's Briyani - Briyani Specialist with 60 Years Experience

It is all my colleague's fault. For some reason, she has been talking about briyani for the whole of last week. It’s enough to make me crave for briyani so I decided to get myself some briyani. I asked my colleague for a briyani recommendation and she recommended Allauddin’s Briyani in Tekka Centre. Located in Tekka Centre, Allaudin’s Briyani is located next to the toilet. It’s unfavorable location did not stop food-obsessed Singaporeans from seeking it out, such as myself. Allaudin’s Briyani calls itself the “briyani specialist” which probably has some truth. Allaudin’s Briyani Pte Ltd has been selling briyani since the 1950s which means it has more than 60 years. This unassuming briyani stall has been featured in numerous newspapers such as Sunday Times, The Window, You Magazine, Life!eats  In fact, Allaudin’s Briyani is so popular that it has expanded into two stalls to accommodate the vast amount of orders. The stall in the corner sells pratas and Indian dishes such as murtabak...

Inasal - Authentic Filipino Cuisine and Snacks in Lucky Plaza

Lucky Plaza is known as “Little Philippines” in Singapore. You can buy Filipino snacks or send money to the Philippines, but there are surprisingly not many Philippines restaurants. I asked my Filipino colleagues for restaurant recommendation and all of them recommended Inasal. Located on the forth floor of Lucky Plaza, I have always thought Inasal is just a Filipino snack counter. It turned out there is actually a restaurant too, the entrance is to the right of the snack counter. Inasal has many popular Filipino dishes that cannot be found elsewhere in Singapore. Since this restaurant is recommended by my Filipino colleagues, I believe the food should be as authentic as it can get in Singapore. If you like eating fish, you have a choice of   Tilapia   [S$11] or   Bangus   [S$13]. The fish I have here is Bangus, stuffed with diced tomatoes, onions and garlic. Bangus is a little bland and there are too many fibrous bones which makes it a chore to eat.  Filipinos ...

Burger & Lobster (Jewel Changi Airport) - Every Bit as Good as in London

I was really excited when I learnt that Burger & Lobster was going to set up its first Singapore outlet in Jewel Changi Airport.  Most Singaporeans were anticipating Burger & Lobster simply because of its popularity but I had a more personal reason.  SANDEMANs NEW Europe Free Tour of London   ended in Parliament Square. I was famished after all that walking so I decided to treat myself to a good lunch. A quick search on Google showed me some interesting lunch spots, one of which was Burger & Lobster's outlet on Dean Street. It was a short walk from Parliament Square and it was highly recommended on TripAdvisor. I had the Lobster Roll and it was simply fantastic.   Now that Burger & Lobster has finally come to Singapore, I wanted to see if it lives up to   my memory.  Located in the Canopy Park on level 5 of Jewel Changi Airport, Burger & Lobster is right in front of the escalator.  Tables and chairs are spaciously scattered around t...
