La Lola Churreria - Freshly-Made Churros at Clark Quay

La Lola Churreria - Restuarant Front

I recently discovered a new churros place at The Central in Clark Quay, La Lola Churreria.

It is located to the right of The Central’s entrance from the MRT station. The red neon sign on top of the entrance is very eye-catching.

Lola Churreria has both hot and chilled churros. There are 4 flavors of chilled churros to choose from - dark chocolate, white chocolate, strawberry and matcha.

If you want only hot churros, go for Clasicos [S$6.50/3pieces, S$6.90/6 pieces, S$9.90/12 pieces, S$13.50/18 pieces].

La Lola Churreria - Chilled Churros

If you want a mixture of hot and chilled churros, you can choose either Assorted Mix [S$8.50/3pieces, S$9/6 pieces, S$12.90/12 pieces, S$16.50/18 pieces] or Ultimate Mix [S$9.30/3pieces, S$9.90/6 pieces, S$14/12 pieces, S$19.50/18 pieces] depending on how many flavors of chilled churros you want.

Dips are sold separately at S$3, S$3.50 and S$4 depending on the size of dip. There are 5 dips to choose from - signature chocolate, dark chocolate, matcha, cream cheese and purple yam.

La Lola Churreria - Calsicos

I have here 6 pieces of hot and fresh Clasicos [S$6.90] churros with Signature Chocolate [S$3] and Cream Cheese [S$3].

The churros are made using authentic Spanish recipe and fried in olive oil upon order. The churros are then sprinkled with sugar crystals and cinnamon powder.

These are definitely the longest and fattest churros I have ever seen. They are perfectly crispy on the outside but the inside are a little soft for my liking. Just a few more minutes of frying and it would have been perfect.

I personally find the churros too sweet, almost to the point of bitter. It is coated with way too much sugar and not enough cinnamon powder to balance out the sweetness.

Signature Chocolate dip is also too sweet, dark chocolate might be a better choice. The creaminess and tartness from Cream Cheese dip brings the sweetness to a manageable level.

Besides churros, La Lola Churreria also serves savory snacks. I didn’t have the chance to try them, but that Barcelona Sandwich [S$8.50] sure looks good.

PAUL

PAUL is a renowned family French bakery and patisserie founded in 1889. Bringing with them them the fine tradition of passion for food and French traditions, PAUL gives Singaporeans a glimpse into French culture and tradition through the delicious and visually-appealing pastries and food.       PAUL's Hot Chocolate is not as creamy as I would have liked it but every last drop is made with good-quality cocoa powder.     Lemon Tart With Meringue is not exactly my favourite dessert, but it looked so pretty that I decided to give it a try anyway. However, it proved to be too sour for my palette even with the beautifully flamed meringue.    Croque Madame is croque-monsieur (grilled ham and cheese sandwich) topped with a fried egg. Emmental cheese, cream and ham is sandwich in pain de eie and toasted till a rich golden brown colour.                         Korean bingsu is a popular Korean dessert comprising of ice shavings and various ingredients such as sweetened condensed milk, fruit syrups, fresh fruits, Korean rice cake and ice-cream. Bingsu is all the craze in Singapore now and Korean bingsu cafes are popping up everywhere like wild mushrooms.                            Besides bingsu, this dessert cafe also serves usual cafe offerings such as coffee and tea. I have been told that their Signature Oven-Baked Honey Bread is very good. The flavours include Strawberry & Chocolate with Ice Cream, Banana & Chocolate with Ice Cream and Green Tea with Ice Cream.     I was told that   Mango Cheesecake Bingsu   is one of the most popular item on the menu. Oh my, it is a sight to behold! A bowl of shaved ice is topped with sweetened condensed milk and freshly-cut m...

Grandma's - Authentic Singapore Food

Grandma's has been around for quite a while now but I only got the chance to try their food recently when the third outlet opened in Suntec City.        I remember having these prawn crackers when I was little. They are so easy and good to eat, I can finish a whole package of this in one sitting.     I don't usually order Malay food, but the Nasi Bukhari looked so good in the menu, I thought I will give it a try. Fragrant yellow turmeric rice is served with golden brown chicken leg which is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Prawns were fresh and succulent but I don't really like the sauce the prawns are cooked in. What really amazes me about this dish is the beef rendang.          I never knew Bo Bo Cha Cha is so such a delightful dessert until I tried it here at Grandma's. The warm and thick coconut tastes so good with chunks of sweet potato and yam. This is definitely comfort food that warms the heart.   Gr...
