D’Life Signature 疏品轩(Square 2) - Contemporary Vegetarian Restaurant

I have passed by D'life Signature at the basement of Square 2 but I always thought D’life Signature is a just a regular Western restaurant so I didn't have much interest.  I recently learned from my colleague that D'life Signature is actually a vegetarian restaurant. If you know my personally, I am not a fan of vegetarian food. (The last time I had vegetarian food at   Real Food   was back in 2015.) My colleague kept telling me that the food at D'life Signature is very tasty despite not using any meat. I was a little skeptical but I decided to give it the benefit of doubt and try it out for myself.  Now that I know D'life Signature is a vegetarian restaurant, I started seeing all the telltale signs that I missed before. There is a huge standing signboard at the entrance of the restaurant that clearly states "Healthy Vegetarian" at the top. A circular white and green picture on the wall besides the cashier depicts the Chinese character 素 which is Chinese ...

Pha Muk - Thai Rice Noodles Crab Laksa and Fermented Pork Salad

On a recent visit to Golden Mile Complex, I discovered a little Thai restaurant selling pork noodles. It is right next to   Golden Banana   and it is called Pha Muk. Besides noodles, Pha Muk also serves salads and side dishes that you won’t find elsewhere. Pha Muk’s   Kway Teow Soup   [S$5] is vastly different from the kway teow soup you find in hawker centers and coffeeshops around Singapore.   Instead of the usual fishballs and fishcakes, the Kway Teow Soup here comes with handmade pork balls, pork slices and pork innards. The clear light-brown broth is robust in flavor. The portion size is very generous, just a bowl of this Kway Teow Soup will fill you up nicely. The   Thai Rice Noodles Crab Laksa   [S$5] is only available on Saturdays and Sundays.  The broth is a light laksa broth without the heavy coconut milk taste. There are just morsels of crab meat in the broth but it does give the broth a slightly sweetness.  The lady boss as...

Ashes Burnnit - Handcrafted Halal Burgers

It’s been a long while since I last had a good burger because  Fatburger & Buffalo's @ Novena Square   has closed down. Thankfully, I didn’t have to look very far. I found Ashes Burnnit at Golden Mile Food Centre which also sells halal burgers. I have heard some rave reviews about this hawker burger stall opened by former Burgs by Project Warung member, Lee Syafiq. This stall became so successful that there are now 2 more outlets in Alexandra Village Food Centre and Springleaf Eating House. I like the clean and minimalistic design of the stall. Everything about the design from the black signboard with yellow borders and black menu with white bold letters feels hip and young. Ashes Burnnit - The Food Ashes Smashed Cheese Burger   [Single with Fries S$5.90, Double with Fries S$8.40] is Ashes Burnnit’s signature burger.  I feel satisfied just looking at that beast of a burger. Two freshly-cooked beef patties sandwiches a slice of American cheese, topped with iceberg...

Samjin Amook - Korean Fishcake Specialist with 50 Years History

I have been having this huge craving for Korean fishcake skewers. I was planning to go to   Dookki  just for the Korean fishcake skewers, until a Google search revealed that Sanjin Amook in ION Orchard specializes in Korean fishcake skewers.  Not only does Samjin Amook specialize in Korean fishcake skewers, it is Korea’s oldest Amook brand in business for over 3 generations since 1953. Samjin Amook prepares 40 different types of amook everyday, using ingredients imported directly from Busan.  The Stall  Samjin Amook is located on basement 4 of ION Orchard, the food haven of ION Orchard.  The stall is clean and bright with white walls and navy blue counter wall. A navy blue sign at the left hand corner says “The Amook”. Samjin Amook - The Food Samjin Amook has 40 different types of Korean fishcakes to offer but they usually only display the 15 most popular ones. I actually ordered one serving of   Tteobokki   [S$5] and   Korean Fishcake Skewer...
