Jinjja Chicken (Clementi Mall) - Contemporary Korean Fast Food Chain

Jinjja Chicken (Clementi Mall) - Restaurant Front

It’s been quite a while since I last ate at Jinjja Chicken (Clementi Mall). My colleague and I were both craving for tteobokki (Korean rice cake) so we went to Jinjja Chicken (Clementi Mall) to satisfy our craving.

Jinjja Chicken (Clementi Mall) - Menu

You can find a whole range of Korean foods here, from fried chicken and noodles to rice dishes and rice rolls. There are some un-Korean items such as burgers and salads on the menu too.

I got myself Jinjja Drumsticks 3 pieces [S$8.90] because I miss having Korean fried chicken. It is bigger than I remembered from my last visit but not as big as the ones from PM Chicken.

There are 3 sauces to choose from - soy garlic, yangnyeom, monster. This is soy garlic sauce. The sweet and salty sauce is delicious, but the chicken inside tastes rather bland.

I am not sure if it’s the lack of pork (which was substituted with potato) but the Jjajang Myeon[S$8.30, S$10.80 with cutlet] tasted flat. I can’t taste anything else besides the sweetness and saltiness of the black bean sauce.

The tteobokki here is also quite a disappointment. In authentic Korean restaurants, tteobokki usually comes with fishcake and kimchi which not only adds to the variety but improves the taste of the rice cakes as well. Jinjja Chicken’s Tteobokki [S$3.80] is just a few pathetic-looking pieces of rice cakes with gochujang in a paper cup. It tastes bland with only spiciness from the gochujang.

Even though Mozzarella Cheese Sticks [S$3.50 for 4 pieces] is not exactly a Korean dish, but it’s pretty good in terms of taste. The mozzarella sticks are coated with breadcrumbs and deep-fried. The contrast between the gooey-melty cheese inside and the crispy exterior is interesting.

Jinjja Chicken is a contemporary Korean fast-food chain so don’t expect too much taste-wise. The prices are a little expensive but Jinjja Chicken is halal-certified which means Muslim friends can also enjoy the Korean food here.

You can find the addresses and opening hours of all 6 Jinjja Chicken outlets in Singapore here. Jinjja Chicken is also available in Malaysia and Indonesia

PAUL

PAUL is a renowned family French bakery and patisserie founded in 1889. Bringing with them them the fine tradition of passion for food and French traditions, PAUL gives Singaporeans a glimpse into French culture and tradition through the delicious and visually-appealing pastries and food.       PAUL's Hot Chocolate is not as creamy as I would have liked it but every last drop is made with good-quality cocoa powder.     Lemon Tart With Meringue is not exactly my favourite dessert, but it looked so pretty that I decided to give it a try anyway. However, it proved to be too sour for my palette even with the beautifully flamed meringue.    Croque Madame is croque-monsieur (grilled ham and cheese sandwich) topped with a fried egg.                         Korean bingsu is a popular Korean dessert comprising of ice shavings and various ingredients such as sweetened condensed milk, fruit syrups, fresh fruits, Korean rice cake and ice-cream. Bingsu is all the craze in Singapore now and Korean bingsu cafes are popping up everywhere like wild mushrooms.                            Besides bingsu, this dessert cafe also serves usual cafe offerings such as coffee and tea. I have been told that their Signature Oven-Baked Honey Bread is very good. The flavours include Strawberry & Chocolate with Ice Cream, Banana & Chocolate with Ice Cream and Green Tea with Ice Cream.     I was told that   Mango Cheesecake Bingsu   is one of the most popular item on the menu. Oh my, it is a sight to behold! A bowl of shaved ice is topped with sweetened condensed milk and freshly-cut m...

Grandma's - Authentic Singapore Food

Grandma's has been around for quite a while now but I only got the chance to try their food recently when the third outlet opened in Suntec City.        I remember having these prawn crackers when I was little. They are so easy and good to eat, I can finish a whole package of this in one sitting.     I don't usually order Malay food, but the Nasi Bukhari looked so good in the menu, I thought I will give it a try. Fragrant yellow turmeric rice is served with golden brown chicken leg which is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Prawns were fresh and succulent but I don't really like the sauce the prawns are cooked in. What really amazes me about this dish is the beef rendang.          I never knew Bo Bo Cha Cha is so such a delightful dessert until I tried it here at Grandma's. The warm and thick coconut tastes so good with chunks of sweet potato and yam. This is definitely comfort food that warms the heart.   Gr...
