The Go Gi Jip Korean BBQ - Korean BBQ Restaurant

Two restaurants in Singapore serves Korean marinated raw crab, ganjang gejang.  I have already been to   Guiga Korean BBQ Restaurant , today I am visiting The Go Gi Jip to try out their ganjang gejang among other things. There is very limited reservation at The Go Gi Jip, most likely you will have to go down and queue. The Go Gi Jip is a very popular restaurant, so be prepare to wait at least half an hour to an hour. The Go Gi Jip - The Food I have read reviews that The Go Gi Jip's   Soy Marinated Raw Crab   [SS65] is tastes better than Guiga's because it does not have a fishy taste. They taste the same to me, except that this time I got the ala carte version so I got a full-sized crab instead of the small one I got as part of a lunch set. The marination process has broken down the tissue fibres, so the meat is all gel-like. Squeeze it out from the body and it tastes amazing with rice. No wonder people call it "rice stealer". Remember to leave some rice to eat with t...

So Good Char Chan Tang - Posh and Disappointing

So Good Char Chan Tang in Capitol Piazza is very different from the cha chan teng that I have been to in Hong Kong.  Cha chaan teng in Hong Kong are mostly housed in nondescript buildings, such as the   Mido Cafe   I visited. You will probably walk past it without realizing if you didn’t go looking for it. So Good Char Chan Tang, on the other hand, looks so posh with its high ceilings and glass windows, it looks more like a fine-dining restaurant. So Good Char Chan Tang looks so high-class, I almost didn't dare to go in. But after scanning the menu, I heaved a sigh of relief. The prices are pretty reasonable and there are a couple of dishes which quipped my interest. So Good Char Chan Tang has quite a selection of rice and noodle dishes, bbq meats as well as congee. Hong Kong dim sum is available from 11am - 6pm. You can also find sandwiches and toasts which are popular items in Hong Kong cha chaan teng.  I made my order at the self-service machine at the entr...

Ootoya (Clementi Mall) - Quality Japanese Cuisine

I have dined at Ootoya some years back so I know I can expect quality Japanese cuisine from this restaurant. I was delighted when a sales representative treated us to a meal at Ootoya (Clementi Mall).  Ootoya - The Food Ootoya has an extensive menu that encompasses different varieties of Japanese cuisine and ingredients. You can find the full menu   here .  Sashimi is a must-order at any Japanese restaurant, especially at renowned Japanese restaurants such as Ootoya.   5 Sashimi   [S$28] gives you 3 pieces of salmon, yellowtail, shrimp, bigeye tuna and scallop. The sashimi are fresh, they taste amazing with soy sauce and wasabi. If you want to have sashimi as a meal, get the   Chirashi Don   [Set S$21, Ala Carte S$18]. You get dice-cut pieces of assorted seafood such as bigeye tuna maguro, yellowtail buri and salmon on top of sushi rice.  One of my favorite Japanese food is unagi, I wonder how good is the unagi at Ootoya so I ordered  ...

Pepper Lunch Restaurant (JEM) - DIY Australian Steak from Just S$17.90

Pepper Lunch has always been my go-to place for quality steak. It has been a long time since I last had a good steak at Pepper Lunch (Tampines One) and I have been craving for it.  Pepper Lunch has opened an outlet in JEM, I can finally get my steak craving fixed.  Pepper Lunch does not allow table reservation, you will just have to queue and wait in line. Apparently I am not the only one who loves Pepper Lunch. There is a perpetual queue outside Pepper Lunch (JEM) especially during lunch and dinner hours.    I have tried their Prime Tender (Australian Beef) 160g and Pepper Steak (Australian Beef) 130g [S$17.90] which are tender and juicy. There is also Diced Cut Beef (Australian Beef) for those lazy to cut their steak and Beef Hamburg with Egg for Japanese flavours.  Today I want to go all in and treat myself to The Giant (Australian Beef) 230g. Look at that huge steak, thoughtfully cut into strips to facilitate cooking. Spread the accompanying...
