Blanco Court Beef Noodles - Best Food Court Beef Noodles

Authentic Hock Lam Street Popular Beef Kway Teow   is nice but it is a little expensive and not convenient for me who stay in the west of Singapore. I have found another beef noodle stall in Westgate Food Republic called Blanco Court Beef Noodles. You can choose from 7 types of beef noodles with different combination of beef ingredients. There are also a few side dishes that you can add on to complete your meal. I always order their   Superior Beef Noodle   [Small S$11.90, Large S$17.90] which comes with beef balls, beef slices, beef brisket, beef tendon and beef stomach. This is the equivalent of Authentic Hock Lam Street Popular Beef Kway Teow’s Supreme Mix with Tendon. With just an additional S$1.20, you get a lot more ingredients. The beef slices are so tender and the beef brisket has a slight chewy texture thanks to tendons. The broth has a rich beefy aroma from boiling beef bones for many hours. Blanco Court Beef Noodles is perfect for those staying in the west of S...

Authentic Hock Lam Street Popular Beef Kway Teow‎

I was telling my friend the other day that my favorite beef noodle is   Din Tai Fung’s Special Braised Beef Noodle Soup. He insisted that Authentic Hock Lam Street Popular Beef Kway Teow‎ is the best beef noodle in Singapore. I made a special trip to this restaurant in Raffles Place to see if it is really that great. The Raffles Place outlet is pretty easy to find. From Raffles Place MRT Exit G, walk past UOB Plaza towers and go straight ahead. It is on the other side of Boat Quay, along the main road. The Food This is Authentic Hock Lam Street Popular Beef Kway Teow‎’s menu which features beef noodles with a variety of combinations of beef ingredients and a few side dishes. You can choose your choice of noodles - kway teow, thick bee hoon,  yellow noodle and white rice. I ordered   Supreme Mix with Tendon   [Regular S$10.50, Large S$11.50] and kway teow. This has all the ingredients - beef balls, beef stomach, beef slices and beef tendon. The soup is thi...

Timbre+ One North - Where Good Food Meets Live Music

If you are looking for a place to chill out and relax with live music after work, I recommend Timbre+ One North. Location The nearest MRT station is One-North station on the Circle Line. After exiting Exit A, cross the road and take a 5-minute walk and you will reach Timbre+ One North. Live Music The best part about Timbre+ One North is live music by local musicians from Monday to Saturday nights. You can find the live band schedule   here . Food Timbre+ One North offers a diversity of restaurant-grade food and casual eats at affordable prices. There are 30 food stalls and 5 drink stalls.  As its name suggests, Burgs by Project Warung sells burgers and western food. This stall is Muslim-owned so it is considered halal. I had their   Burgs Classic Cheese Burger  [S$6 for Single, S$9 for Double] with Onion Rings and   Honey Butter Chicken Wings   [S$5.50] with Fries. The cheese burgeris a little on the thin side but it's overall tasty. The chicken wings ...

Beauty in The Pot (Westgate) - Pinky Hotpot Restaurant

Paradise Group’s Beauty in The Pot hotpot restaurant chain is hugely popular in Singapore with 7 outlets islandwide. The Westgate outlet is decked out in pink splendor. Everything from the wall decor to the tables and chairs all come in shades of pink. There is even a huge pink pig and a children’s playground to entertain kids while the parents dine at the restaurant. How thoughtful. Beauty in The Pot is not buffet-style all-you-can-eat hotpot, you have to order individual ingredients by scanning the given QR code, this is their   menu   for your reference. There is a wide selection of quality ingredients from meats and seafood to vegetables and noodles. Besides its signature Beauty Collagen Broth, there is a new Cooling Coconut Broth which I like very much. It has a slight sweetness from the coconut flesh which adds fragrance to the ingredients cooked inside. You can either choose to create your own dipping sauce or use one of their concoctions using the 10+ condiments a...

I'm Kim Korean BBQ & Shabu Shabu

I have been dying to try out I'm Kim Korean BBQ & Shabu Shabu ever since I learned that there is an outlet in Clementi. I know just had Japanese barbecue buffet at   Yakiniku Ohji   just 2 weeks ago, but one can never have too much barbecue or buffets. I'm Kim Korean BBQ & Shabu Shabu is located on the second floor of Grantral Mall. This restaurant looks almost like a factory with rows of black tables and chairs. Each table is equipped with a pull-down cooking hood to suck away the smoke so you don't leave the restaurant smelling like Korean barbecue. Buffet Price This is the buffet pricing that I took from their  website . I find S$18.90 (Monday - Friday) and S$28.90 (Saturday - Sunday and Public Holidays) for buffet lunch and S$28.90 (Monday - Friday) and S$29.90 for buffet dinner to be reasonable pricing. I'm Kim Korean BBQ & Shabu Shabu - The Food All the buffet stations are located nex to the windows opposite the entrance to the restaurant. First, ...

Violet Oon (ION Orchard) - Authentic Nonya Peranakan Cuisine

I have heard many rave reviews about Violet Oon and her Peranakan restaurants. I can’t really take spicy food so I have never been to any of her restaurants until my boss brought us there a few days back. Violet Oon - Design Violet Oon restaurant in ION Orchard spots a modern-Victorian look with black metal frames with gold-rimmed glass doors. It's classy and gorgeous. Emerald-green shelves divide the space into different sections and drop-down glass lights gives the place a touch of warmth. Violet Oon - The Food I like that Violet Oon’   menu   is concise with just 6 pages, which includes soups, starters, salads, mains, noodles & rice and nonya dishes. Here are some of the dishes that I have tried: Gado Gado   [S$20] is an Indonesian salad of tempeh, fried bean curd, hard-boiled eggs, potatoes, long beans, cabbage, cucumber and lontong rice, served with peanut sauce and prawn crackers. This is perfect for sharing, the mildly-spicy creamy peanut sauce makes eve...

Eggslut - An Love Affair with Eggs

Eggslut was all over social media a few months ago. I thought the hype has died down by now, but I still see a long queue on weekends. I am curious what’s so great about Eggslut so I decided to try it out for myself. Eggslut - Interior Eggslut’s interior is chic and modern with rows of wooden tables and chairs supported by black steel legs. The high ceilings makes the place feel very big and spacious and you can watch your food being prepared at the open kitchen. Eggslut - The Food As the name suggests, Eggslut is all about eggs. There are sandwiches, sides, beverages and coffee by Comman Man Coffee Roasters). I thought   House-Made Buttermilk Biscuit   [S$6] are sweet biscuits but they turned out to be English scones. The accompanying honey butter makes the scone taste so amazing. I can taste a little bit of truffle in my first bite of   Truffle Hashbrowns   [S$5.50] but it’s not so distinctive after my palate got used to the taste. I like that the hashb...

The Ship Restaurant & Bar - 45 Years Old Western Restaurant

Thanks to my ex-colleague, I finally got to try The Ship Restaurant & Bar in Shaw House. The Ship Restaurant & Bar is really difficult to locate. You will need to cut through the 3rd floor of Isetan and walk all the way to the back. I thought such a hidden restaurant will be quite empty but the restaurant was packed with a queue of people waiting to get in. I think heritage definitely plays a part in The Ship Restaurant & Bar’s popularity. This restaurant was open by sea-men in 1977 which means it has been around for more than 45 years. I like the nautical-themed decorations, but I wonder if the food is any good. The Food The   menu   consists of many classic Western dishes that you can expect to find at any self-respecting Western restaurant, perfected over the years. Hainanese Pork Cutlet   [S$20.90] is one of the signature dishes here. The pork cutlet is perfectly crispy on the outside yet so tender on the inside. Doused with sweet and sour vegetable...
