I'm Kim Korean BBQ & Shabu Shabu

I'm Kim Korean BBQ & Shabu Shabu - Restaurant Front

I have been dying to try out I'm Kim Korean BBQ & Shabu Shabu ever since I learned that there is an outlet in Clementi. I know just had Japanese barbecue buffet at Yakiniku Ohji just 2 weeks ago, but one can never have too much barbecue or buffets.

I'm Kim Korean BBQ & Shabu Shabu - Interior

I'm Kim Korean BBQ & Shabu Shabu is located on the second floor of Grantral Mall. This restaurant looks almost like a factory with rows of black tables and chairs. Each table is equipped with a pull-down cooking hood to suck away the smoke so you don't leave the restaurant smelling like Korean barbecue.

Buffet Price

I'm Kim Korean BBQ & Shabu Shabu - Buffet Price

This is the buffet pricing that I took from their website. I find S$18.90 (Monday - Friday) and S$28.90 (Saturday - Sunday and Public Holidays) for buffet lunch and S$28.90 (Monday - Friday) and S$29.90 for buffet dinner to be reasonable pricing.

All the buffet stations are located nex to the windows opposite the entrance to the restaurant.

I'm Kim Korean BBQ & Shabu Shabu - Cooked Food

First, you will find cooked foods. There was a mix of Western, Japanese and Korean dishes. I really liked the Korean Japchae, Tteobokki and Fried Chicken but not so much the Fries, Bacon Carbonara and Mushroom Soup.

Next, you will find the raw meat section. There are:

  • Blackpepper Chicken
  • Teriyaki Chicken
  • Pork Belly
  • Volcano Chicken
  • Beef Bulgogi
  • Marinated Pork
  • Sliced Chicken
  • Sliced Pork

The only thing I didn't like was the sliced chicken which was tasteless. Volcano Chicken was really spicy, do eat with caution. Pork Belly was thick, which was perfect when eaten as ssam (Korean vegetable wrap). Beef Bulgogi was well-marinated and was surprisingly juicy and tender. Sliced Pork was perfect for making Bacon Wrapped Enoki.

Conclusion

I'm Kim Korean BBQ & Shabu Shabu - Top View

The only drawback is the Clementi branch of I'm Kim Korean BBQ & Shabu Shabu does not have seafood, but otherwise all the ingredients and meats are very fresh. All in all, I think this Korean barbecue buffet is worth the price that I am paying for.

PAUL

PAUL is a renowned family French bakery and patisserie founded in 1889. Bringing with them them the fine tradition of passion for food and French traditions, PAUL gives Singaporeans a glimpse into French culture and tradition through the delicious and visually-appealing pastries and food.       PAUL's Hot Chocolate is not as creamy as I would have liked it but every last drop is made with good-quality cocoa powder.     Lemon Tart With Meringue is not exactly my favourite dessert, but it looked so pretty that I decided to give it a try anyway. However, it proved to be too sour for my palette even with the beautifully flamed meringue.    Croque Madame is croque-monsieur (grilled ham and cheese sandwich) topped with a fried egg.                         Korean bingsu is a popular Korean dessert comprising of ice shavings and various ingredients such as sweetened condensed milk, fruit syrups, fresh fruits, Korean rice cake and ice-cream. Bingsu is all the craze in Singapore now and Korean bingsu cafes are popping up everywhere like wild mushrooms.                            Besides bingsu, this dessert cafe also serves usual cafe offerings such as coffee and tea. I have been told that their Signature Oven-Baked Honey Bread is very good. The flavours include Strawberry & Chocolate with Ice Cream, Banana & Chocolate with Ice Cream and Green Tea with Ice Cream.     I was told that   Mango Cheesecake Bingsu   is one of the most popular item on the menu. Oh my, it is a sight to behold! A bowl of shaved ice is topped with sweetened condensed milk and freshly-cut m...

Grandma's - Authentic Singapore Food

Grandma's has been around for quite a while now but I only got the chance to try their food recently when the third outlet opened in Suntec City.        I remember having these prawn crackers when I was little. They are so easy and good to eat, I can finish a whole package of this in one sitting.     I don't usually order Malay food, but the Nasi Bukhari looked so good in the menu, I thought I will give it a try. Fragrant yellow turmeric rice is served with golden brown chicken leg which is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Prawns were fresh and succulent but I don't really like the sauce the prawns are cooked in. What really amazes me about this dish is the beef rendang.          I never knew Bo Bo Cha Cha is so such a delightful dessert until I tried it here at Grandma's. The warm and thick coconut tastes so good with chunks of sweet potato and yam. This is definitely comfort food that warms the heart.   Gr...
