Pohang Seafood & Butchery - Live Octopus in Singapore

I have been wanting to try the live octopus that is so famous in Korean. Yes, I am talking about the live octopus that is till wiggling when you eat it. I thought I have to go to Korea for that until I discovered a restaurant that sells live octopus in Singapore -  Pohang Seafood and Butchery. The Restaurant Pohang Seafood & Butchery is located in The Hillford, a private proerty in Upper Bukit Timah with commercial shops. There are bus stops outside and opposite the restaurant but it is a little inaccessible. There are both indoor and outdoor seats. If you intend to barbecue meats, outdoor seats might be a better option. You have to get the meats for barbecue at Pohang Butchery next door. There are only a few choices of wagyu available: Wagyu Short Ribs 300g [S$58] Wagyu Rib Eye 300g [S$50] Wagyu Thin Skirt/Thick Skirt 300g [S$50] Marinated Wagyu Beef [S$45] The Food You can find the full menu on their   Facebook Page . The Korean sashimi sets are very popular, or you...

Chin Huat Live Seafood 鎮發 - Straight from the Tanks

My colleague swears by Chin Huat Live Seafood and she has been raving about this place for months. It piqued my interest so I went with a friend to check out this restaurant. Located in Sunset Way, it’s not easily accessible by public transport, not that it will deter foodies like myself. It has taken over the whole coffeeshop on the ground floor of Block 105 Clementi Street 12. Big bold letters on the headboard proudly proclaims 鎮發 Chin Huat Live Seafood. Beneath the signboard are huge glass tanks which houses the live crabs, lobsters, fish and oysters. The rest of the coffeeshop serves as air-conditioned seating area with big round tables as well as alfresco seats outside. This restaurant reminds me of   Keng Eng Kee Seafood, which also started with humble beginnings. Chin Huat Live Seafood - The Food We started off the meal with   Live Oyster   [Small S$8.80, Large S$11.80]. The oyster is cooked with garlic and soybean sauce that highlights the freshness of the ...

Hitoyoshi Yoshi Yakiniku & Mart - All You Can Eat Yakiniku Buffet

My colleagues and I recently visited  Hitoyoshi Yoshi Yakiniku & Mart for their yakiniku buffet. It was so worth it that I just have to share it with all my beloved readers. Located at the end of The Rail Mall, Hitoyoshi Yoshi Yakiniku & Mart is the premium version of   Yakiniku Ohji. There are 2 90-minute buffets - US Black Angus Buffet [Adult S$42.80++, Child S$23.90++] and A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Buffet [Adult S$86.80++, Child S$29.90++]. Both buffets are available during lunch and dinner. Beside the special meats, both buffets also come with more than 60 dishes of vegetables, appetizers, side dishes, sashimi, maki, rice, noodle, soup and desserts. We went for the US Black Angus Buffet [Adult S$42.80++, Child S$23.90++]. I love the various cuts of beef. The Tiger Prawns are super fresh and they give such a generous serving of Shishamo which are simply delish. Grilling Half Shell Scallop is such fun! The desserts are not to be missed too. There are 3 flavors of gela...

The Coffee Academics - For The Coffee Connoisseur

The Coffee Academics’s main selling point which is their speciality coffee is lost on me since I don’t drink coffee. In fact, it was even voted one of the “ 10 Best Coffee Places in Singapore ”. The outlet in Scotts Square is their flagship store. I only came here because   Wild Honey   was full and there was a 45-minute wait. Since The Coffee Academics also serves breakfast, I decided to have my brunch here instead. The Food I don’t drink coffee so I can’t critique the coffee but the breakfasts here are pretty on-point. Here’s the link to the   menu   in case you want to know what I’m eating. For non-coffee drinkers like me, the only thing I can get is   Chocolate Cocoa   [Hot S$5.90, Cold S$7]. This is pure 75% dark ‘mana’ chocolate from Philippines, with your choice of solvent. I have lactose-intolerance  and I am so thankful that they have the option of oat milk. This cup of hot chocolate is rich and frothy. Doesn’t   The Academics Breakfast ...
