Meet 4 Meat - Cheapest Beef Wellington in Singapore

Meet 4 Meat - Stall Front

A friend recently recommended Meet 4 Meat for the cheapest Beef Wellington in Singapore.

Beef Wellington is a classic English dish, named after Arthur Wellesley, the first Duke of Wellington. Beef Wellington has always been an expensive dish as it uses tenderloin, the tenderest and costliest cut of beef.

I have never had beef wellington before so I made a trip to Meet 4 Meat to try their beef wellington.

Location

Meet 4 Meat - Brunners Coffeeshop

Meet 4 Meat is one of the stalls in Brunners Coffeeshop, a coffeeshop along East Coast Road. It’s a little hard to find, you will have walk 30 minutes from the nearest Eunos MRT station.

The Food

Meet 4 Meat - Menu

This is the revamped menu. Sadly, quite a few of the dishes that I wanted to try are no longer available.

Meet 4 Meat - Beef Wellington

This is their signature Beef Wellington [S$35] where 180g of Australian tenderloin is wrapped in mushroom duxelle and puff pastry. Meet for Meat does their beef wellington in individual buns to better control the temperature.

Meet 4 Meat - Beef Wellington Inside

This is actually my first time trying beef wellington so I can’t tell how authentic it is but it sure taste good to me. The beef inside is medium-rare with a pink centre, exactly how I like my beef done. The beef is perfectly tender while the surrounding mushroom duxelle and puff pastry are more like garnishes.

Meet 4 Meat - Burger Wellington

There is a cheaper version of beef wellington called Burger Wellington [S$18] where 200g of patty is wrapped with smoked cheddar cheese and puff pastry. The beef patty is not too finely minced so there is plenty of bite to the meat. The smoked cheddar cheese works so well with the beef patty while the puff pastry holds everything together.

Meet 4 Meat - Mini Duck Wellington

Unless you really love to eat duck, I won’t recommend Mini Duck Wellington [S$15]. The duck meat is dry and the gamey smell of the duck ruins the whole thing.

Meet 4 Meat - Tiger Prawn Roll

I totally enjoyed Tiger Prawn Roll [S$12 for 5 pieces]. Chopped prawn and fish paste are wrapped in light beancurd skin and deep-fried till a beautiful golden color. The sweetness from the prawns works well with the soft fish paste which gives you loads of unami flavor.

PAUL

PAUL is a renowned family French bakery and patisserie founded in 1889. Bringing with them them the fine tradition of passion for food and French traditions, PAUL gives Singaporeans a glimpse into French culture and tradition through the delicious and visually-appealing pastries and food.       PAUL's Hot Chocolate is not as creamy as I would have liked it but every last drop is made with good-quality cocoa powder.     Lemon Tart With Meringue is not exactly my favourite dessert, but it looked so pretty that I decided to give it a try anyway. However, it proved to be too sour for my palette even with the beautifully flamed meringue.    Croque Madame is croque-monsieur (grilled ham and cheese sandwich) topped with a fried egg. Emmental cheese, cream and ham is sandwich in pain de eie and toasted till a rich golden brown colour.                         Korean bingsu is a popular Korean dessert comprising of ice shavings and various ingredients such as sweetened condensed milk, fruit syrups, fresh fruits, Korean rice cake and ice-cream. Bingsu is all the craze in Singapore now and Korean bingsu cafes are popping up everywhere like wild mushrooms.                            Besides bingsu, this dessert cafe also serves usual cafe offerings such as coffee and tea. I have been told that their Signature Oven-Baked Honey Bread is very good. The flavours include Strawberry & Chocolate with Ice Cream, Banana & Chocolate with Ice Cream and Green Tea with Ice Cream.     I was told that   Mango Cheesecake Bingsu   is one of the most popular item on the menu. Oh my, it is a sight to behold! A bowl of shaved ice is topped with sweetened condensed milk and freshly-cut m...

Grandma's - Authentic Singapore Food

Grandma's has been around for quite a while now but I only got the chance to try their food recently when the third outlet opened in Suntec City.        I remember having these prawn crackers when I was little. They are so easy and good to eat, I can finish a whole package of this in one sitting.     I don't usually order Malay food, but the Nasi Bukhari looked so good in the menu, I thought I will give it a try. Fragrant yellow turmeric rice is served with golden brown chicken leg which is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Prawns were fresh and succulent but I don't really like the sauce the prawns are cooked in. What really amazes me about this dish is the beef rendang.          I never knew Bo Bo Cha Cha is so such a delightful dessert until I tried it here at Grandma's. The warm and thick coconut tastes so good with chunks of sweet potato and yam. This is definitely comfort food that warms the heart.   Gr...
