CAMO Cafe & Bar - New Cafe & Bar in SAFRA Choa Chu Kang

 CAMO - Restaurant Front

Thanks to me being a member of Tung Lok Group, I received an email informing me about the opening of their newest restaurant, CAMO Cafe & Bar in the new SAFRA Choa Chu Kang.

CAMO which is short for "camouflage", is a collaboration between SAFRA Singapore and TungLok Group. It is a cafe by day and transforms into a bar at night.

CAMO Cafe & Bar sounds like a good brunch spot, so I made a trip to SAFRA Choa Chu Kang one find Sunday morning to check out this new restaurant.

Design

SAFRA Choa Chu Kang is located at the far left corner of Choa Chu Kang Park. It takes around 10-15 minutes to reach there from Choa Chu Kang MRT station.

CAMO - Outside

I spotted CAMO's bight white signage before I even stepped foot into SAFRA Choa Chu Kang. The cafe is located directly behind the drop-off turnabout and underneath the indoor swimming pool.

CAMO - Counter

I'm assuming the inside of the cafe is made to resemble the army canteen with metal stalls where you place your order and collect your food. Even the food are served on stainless-steel plates.

CAMO - Army Uniform Display

There is a small display cabinet towards the back of the room displaying army uniforms.

The Food

As you can see from the menu, brunch is available daily till 2.30pm. There are also other all day items on the menu, but cocktails are sadly not available yet.

CAMO - CAMO Brunch (Fall In!) Platter

No brunch is complete without an American breakfast, which is otherwise known as CAMO Brunch (Fall In!) Platter[S$19.80] here.

You have the usual sausages, bacon, baked beans, eggs (sunny side-up/poached/scrambled/overeasy), hashbrown and two toasted brioche bread balanced with a rocket salad and roasted vine tomatoes dressed in sweet balsamic vinegar. I love that the two smoked sausages are bursting with juice and the toasted brioche breads are so crispy.

CAMO - CAMO Burger

I also ordered CAMO Burger [S$20.80] from their All Day menu. Sandwiched between the soft buns are a thick Black Angus beef patty, streaky bacon, emmental cheese, lettuce, sliced tomato, BBQ sauce, caramelised onion, relish and pickles.

Be warned, it's gonna get messy easting this burger. The juice from the patty, BBQ sauce, relish and pickles are going run down your hands and fingers.

I really wanted to order a cocktail but the cocktails are not available yet so I settled for Osmanthus Sencha [Hot S$4, Cold S$4.50]. I was kind of disappointed that the tea was served in a paper cup but it's probably to fit in with the army theme of the cafe.

CAMO - Beers and Soju

CAMO turns into a bar at night. While I don't think there's going to be live music (I don't see a stage), it's still a nice place to unwind with a few beers and soju.

PAUL

PAUL is a renowned family French bakery and patisserie founded in 1889. Bringing with them them the fine tradition of passion for food and French traditions, PAUL gives Singaporeans a glimpse into French culture and tradition through the delicious and visually-appealing pastries and food.       PAUL's Hot Chocolate is not as creamy as I would have liked it but every last drop is made with good-quality cocoa powder.     Lemon Tart With Meringue is not exactly my favourite dessert, but it looked so pretty that I decided to give it a try anyway. However, it proved to be too sour for my palette even with the beautifully flamed meringue.    Croque Madame is croque-monsieur (grilled ham and cheese sandwich) topped with a fried egg. Emmental cheese, cream and ham is sandwich in pain de eie and toasted till a rich golden brown colour. Topped with a fried egg with runny yolk, every bite is filled with delicious goodness.   Address and telephone n...

Korean bingsu is a popular Korean dessert comprising of ice shavings and various ingredients such as sweetened condensed milk, fruit syrups, fresh fruits, Korean rice cake and ice-cream. Bingsu is all the craze in Singapore now and Korean bingsu cafes are popping up everywhere like wild mushrooms.                            Besides bingsu, this dessert cafe also serves usual cafe offerings such as coffee and tea. I have been told that their Signature Oven-Baked Honey Bread is very good. The flavours include Strawberry & Chocolate with Ice Cream, Banana & Chocolate with Ice Cream and Green Tea with Ice Cream.     I was told that   Mango Cheesecake Bingsu   is one of the most popular item on the menu. Oh my, it is a sight to behold! A bowl of shaved ice is topped with sweetened condensed milk and freshly-cut m...

Grandma's - Authentic Singapore Food

Grandma's has been around for quite a while now but I only got the chance to try their food recently when the third outlet opened in Suntec City.        I remember having these prawn crackers when I was little. They are so easy and good to eat, I can finish a whole package of this in one sitting.     I don't usually order Malay food, but the Nasi Bukhari looked so good in the menu, I thought I will give it a try. Fragrant yellow turmeric rice is served with golden brown chicken leg which is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Prawns were fresh and succulent but I don't really like the sauce the prawns are cooked in. What really amazes me about this dish is the beef rendang.          I never knew Bo Bo Cha Cha is so such a delightful dessert until I tried it here at Grandma's. The warm and thick coconut tastes so good with chunks of sweet potato and yam. This is definitely comfort food that warms the heart.   Gr...
