L'éclair Pâtisserie - Singapore's First Eclair Specialty Store

I have been reminiscing about the éclairs I had in Paris when a friend introduced to me L'éclair Pâtisserie, Singapore's first éclair specialty store. Located on the ground floor of Singapore Shopping Centre in Douby Ghaut, L'éclair Pâtisserie looks unassuming. 10 flavors of éclairs are freshly-baked everyday. If you like fruity flavours, there is Mango Passionfruit or Lemon. For something richer, there is Salted Caramel and Dark Chocolate and lots of other flavours. They also have a All Day Tea Set for 2 at S$42 per set which includes your choice of 3 eclairs, 1 pie/croissant and 2 beverages. It's perfect for an affordable afternoon tea with a girlfriend or boyfriend or husband. Besides eclairs, L'éclair Pâtisserie also serves light meals such as pastas, soups, croissants and pies. I got a Truffle Egg Mayo Croissant [S$8] which was unremarkable but tasty nevertheless. It reminds of the egg mayo sandwiches from Delifrance that my mother used to buy for me when I was...

PS. Cafe Raffles City - New Dishes and Desserts

I have always liked the food at homegrown cafe chain PS. Cafe which opened an outlet at Raffles City. The PS. Cafe Raffles City is so pretty with tall glass ceiling that gives the illusion of being more spacious than it actually is. The black and white stripped awning and relaxed atmosphere contributes to the success of the cafe. I heard PS. Cafe Raffles City has some new dishes and I am going to check them out. New Dishes You can’t go wrong with anything you order from this   menu . The new dishes are the ones marked with a star. Crispy Typhoon Calamari   [S$22] takes the simple calamari to a whole new level with Szechuan pepper, crispy garlic, fermented black bean, scallion and chilli flakes. It’s a burst of flavors with every bite, especially if you have them in the accompanying lemon chilli dip. It’s amazing how tender the cod is in   Miso Black Cod   [S$43], it literally fell apart at the touch of my fork. I like how the accompanying cha soba, air-flown g...

La Jiang Shan Hotpot BBQ - Personal Hotpot and BBQ

I loved the personal pot concept of La Jiang Shan. Sadly, the   Clementi outlet of La Jiang Shan   closed down so my friends and I went to the only surviving outlet at Selegie. It’s as crowded as ever with tables next to each other, it can be a little to move around. But for the affordable price of S$28.80++ per person on weekends, I am willing to endure the minor discomforts. For S$28.80++ per person, there is quite a lot of ingredients to choose from. There are many meats seafood and vegetables to choose from, everything looks really fresh. The condiments and sauces are located at the left corner of the restaurant. It has all the necessary ingredients to make your perfect dipping sauce. There is also free-flow Tianjing goubuli steamed buns to whet your appetite for the feast that is to follow. There are fruits and desserts to end your meal, there’s ice-cream too. La Jiang Shan Hotpot Address: 35 Selegie Road, Parklane Shopping Mall #01-06, Singapore 188307 Telephone: ...

Sofra Turkish Cafe & Restaurant

It's been a while since I last had Turkish food at   Cappadocia Turkish Restaurant . This time we will be visiting Sofra Turkish Cafe & Restaurant. Located on level 3 of Marina Square, Sofra Turkish Cafe & Restaurant is modern and contemporary with touches of Turkish design such as the colorful Turkish lamps hanging from the ceiling. There are also private rooms with sofas surrounding a hexagon-shaped wooden table. What to order You can refer to Sofra Turkish Cafe & Restaurant’s menu   here . Hummus with Bread   [S$12.50] is the easiest appetizer to order in a Turkish restaurant. This delicious dip is made with chickpeas and tahini blended with extra virgin olive oils and spices. It comes with half portion Turkish bread which is definitely not enough to mop up all that smooth creamy dip. You can always order  additional Turkish Bread [S$4.80] or   Sesame Bread   [S$8.90]. Eggplant Salad   [S$9.80] is a delicious cold starter where fr...
