Gyoza King: Keisuke Gyoza - Always One Of The Best Gyoza In Singapore

I am back for the third and final time to try Keisuke Gyoza and the rest of the sides dishes.     I will be eating a lot, so I ordered Rice Extra Large. It doesn't really matter which size of rice you order, because the rice can be refilled as much as you want at no extra cost.      Out of the two soups available, I still prefer Vegetable Soup.     Keisuke Gyoza is a little disappointing. It is supposed to be prawn gyoza, but I almost cannot taste the prawn.     This is the inside of the Keisuke Gyoza. You can see a few prawn bits, but not much. It only they can make the filling all prawn, I think it taste superb. I won't mind paying extra for that!     Japanese Vermicelli Salad is a cold side dish that is great as an appetiser with its sweet and sour taste.       Spinach With Soya Sauce & Bonito Flakes doesn't sit well with me. The spinach is tasteless unless dipped in the soy sauce. The bonito flakes give...

Bread Society

Ever since I knew that Bread Society serves all-day breakfast, I have been wanting to try the food, but it's more for brunch than for breakfast because although Bread Society opens at 7.30am, the kitchen will not be ready until 8.30am.       The Society is Bread Society's take on the traditional English breakfast. Pancakes are used instead of thick toast, they are puffy and airy, they taste more like Chinese steamed cake. The crisp green sprouts reminds me of the cool morning air. The bacon are cut in thick slabs instead of the thin slices served almost everywhere else. The bacon has been well-marinated and pan-fried till slightly charred, resulting in thick bacon slices that is flavourful and delightfully chewy.     I love anything with caramel in it, and Salted Caramel Lava Cake sounds devine. I would have enjoyed it even more if it had been served to me piping hot and I do wish that the salted caramel can be blended in with the melted chocolate instead of a w...

Gyoza King: Tori King Gyoza - Still One Of The Best Gyoza In Singapore

I am back for the second time, this time for Tori King Gyoza and two other side dishes.   There wasn't any queue, probably because it's a weekday. I finally managed to snap a picture of the drink stand where you can enjoy a cup of Japanese barley tea while waiting in the queue. They are so thoughtful, it's difficult not to like the restaurant.     Learning from my mistake on the first visit, I ordered   Rice Large   (it's the same price for all sizes of rice). Koshihikari Rice is the crown jewel of Japanese short-grain rice and I love its stickiness.     This is   Tori King Gyoza . The skin is fried to a crispy finish (it's even crispier than the last time) and it is served piping hot. It is delicious.     I was a little scared that the chicken meat will be dry, but my doubts were unfounded. The filling is tender and flavorful.      This time I ordered   Miso Soup .     This is supposed to be  Pork Suki...

Gelare (Suntec City) - A Total Disappointment

It's lunch-time and I am craving for some real food - food that is cooked upon order and does not come out of a plastic bag. I know there is a Gelare has opened an outlet in Suntec and they serve All-Day Breakfast, I decided to try my luck there.            They were out of pancakes, so I ordered   Waffle & Eggs .        Waffle & Eggs   does not look like anything I expected. The waffles are light and airy, which is good if you are looking for something light, but I still feel that it should be more filling since this is supposed to be a meal.  I suspect the scrambled eggs are cooked with water because I spy a few water droplets under the scrambled eggs (how in the world do you cook scrambled eggs with water?!).  The scrambled eggs taste oddly slightly sweet, I wouldn't be surprised if they mistakenly put sugar in the eggs instead of salt. The "best" part of the meal is still the cup of maple syrup. The...

Sunny Korean Cuisine - Cheap Korean Food In The West

If you are looking for cheap Korean food, Sunny Korean Cuisine is a choice to consider. Conveniently located at West Coast Plaza (formerly Ginza Plaza), this small Korean restaurants boasts all the Korean classic dishes such as Bibimbap, Ramen and Kimchi Fried Rice at very economical prices.     Saba Set   arrives at my table sizzling hot. Granted, the presentation is not very pretty with pieces of cabbage lining the hotplate, but it's not common to be served the entire half-fish, normally they just give you a small piece. This is definitely value-for-money.     Hot Stone Bibimbap   is cooked upon order. Nothing fancy but it looks comforting.  Everything is fresh, it tastes excellent when mixed well.     The kimchi and anchovies looks pathetic, both in appearance and taste.     Soup is normal miso soup, nothing to comment.   Sunny Korean Cuisine is definitely the best Korean restaurant, but it is a very good choice if you are l...

Morganfield's (Suntec City) - Sticky Ribs at Its Best

Just before clinic was about end, our doctor told us that Morganfield's is having a 1-for-1 Half Slab Sticky Bones to celebrate their 2nd anniversary. As the promotion is only extended till today, we went to Morganfield's instead.   My only memory of ribs are of those I had many years ago, where I had to cut the meat until my hands were sore only to get a small strip of meat. My first reaction to the word "ribs" is a grimace, but Morganfield's totally changed my opinion about ribs.     The red napkin underneath the cutleries gives it a very classy feel.     Hazelnut Brown Nectar   is strongly recommended by the waiter who took our orders. He says that many customers come back especially for this craft beer because it has a very strong hazelnut taste. I took a sip of my colleague's order and the hazelnut taste is indeed very strong.     Wunderbier   is one of the craft beer on promotion. I am no expert on beers so I shall not comment, but I ha...

Artease (Tanjong Pagar)

My colleague Jamie has asked me to help her try out this cafe called Artease because she is thinking of franchising the cafe. This is the first time someone has made a review request and I am honoured that she trusts my opinion. Artease has 5 cafes in Singapore and 2 cafes in Cambodia. I chose to visit the Tanjong Pagar outlet as I was running errand in the area and it is their first and main branch.   It's a humble-looking cafe.     I like the wall art. It's cute, don't you think?     I was recommended   Salted Caramel Milk Tea with Earl Grey Tea Jelly , which is a speciality of Artease. The taste of salty caramel blends perfectly with the milk tea. It is a very delicious drink indeed.     I tried their   Grilled Cheese Sandwich - Honey Mustard Chicken   and it was terrific. The bread was toasted till a beautiful brown and it goes perfectly with the soft filling. The honey mustard chicken filling is sweet but not overpowering. This is a...

Artisan Boulangerie Co.

I have always been so envious of people who can say TGIF because I still have to work half-day on Saturdays. On top of that, I have agreed to give tuition to a friend's son for his PSLE Chinese after working half-day at the clinic, so normally by the time I reach home my Saturday is almost over before I even have the chance to enjoy it.  Today's tuition was cancelled, so I have the rest of the day to myself after work at the clinic. To celebrate, I decided to pamper myself at Great World City, a place I have not visited for quite a long while. I will have snacks at  Artisan Boulangerie Co. followed by the movie "Hundred-Foot Journey" and end the evening with a delicious dinner at   Poulet .  Artisan Boulangerie Co. is a contemporary bakery with French influences. Led by award-winning artisan baker, Eran Mayer, Artisan Boulangerie Co. is a gem of a cafe I discovered when I was planning my day at Great World City.   Pastry Counter     Sandwich and Pie Co...

Poulet (Raffles City & Great World City) - Vast Difference In Food Quality At Different Outlets

I have heard so much about Poulet and I walk past it everyday on my way to work from City Hall MRT station. A few months ago, I made a spontaneous decision one day on my way home to have dinner at Poulet.      Menu     Table design     Poulet means chicken in French, hence Poulet is famous for its roast chicken. I had the restaurant's signature dish,   Poulet Roti with Mushroom Chardonnay Sauce . The meat is so tender, they fall right off, and I am talking about breast meat. Mushroom Chardonnay Sauce is creamy and smooth, but I personally feel that it is a little too much when paired with the roast chicken, it gets a little sick to the end.     Peach Clafoutis   is a French-baked dessert served with a half-peach and vanilla ice-cream. It tastes very similar to bread-pudding. I don't really like the peach that is hidden in the pudding because I feel that it disrupts the taste of the pudding, but pudding and vanilla ice-cream is still...
